We thought we might like to go to Peppers Hervey Bay for Christmas, as we have been to several other Peppers properties and have always been happy, so we decided to book a reconnaissance mission in Oct (also that was still in whale watching season which we were keen to do).
The room was very modern, clean and spacious - more like an apartment than a hotel room as it has a decently equipped galley style kitchen. Our room was on the fourth floor and had a lovely view out over the Bay - made dolphin spotting fairly easy.
Service was what you would probably expect in what is basically a country coastal town - not jumping out of their skins to do things for you, but extremely friendly and hospitable, nonetheless.
The food was good, but possibly not as good as other Peppers resorts. One night it was particularly poor as we ended up eating Dominos Pizza in the dark on our balcony as there was a storm which cut power to the hotel. That meant the restaurant stopped operating - it surprised us that there was no generator for the restaurant or lifts. We thought that maybe we might be offered something - eg some discount,or a free drink etc for the inconvenience of having to look after two small children during over two hours of no power right at dinner time, but alas we were not.
Despite this, we proceeded with our Christmas booking and had an absolutely lovely four day stay. We arrived at about 10am, with check-in to be 2pm and we thought we would just ring to check if the room happened to be ready. To our surprise, they said it was clean and ready to go and we could come straight there. They did not make us wait for check-in time as many hotels do.
The children's pool area is fantastic.
One thing I would love to see there, given the large number of young families who seem to stay there is a kid's club - there was children's entertainment at Christmas time, though - eg movies.
We will no doubt go back there, as we love the area.

We booked in to stay one night at Peppers Hervey Bay as we were attending a function held there on the Saturday night. When we arrived we were greeted by staff who seemed like they would have preferred to be elsewhere. We were handed our key and told it was "down the corridoor". After trekking down a corridoor, out a door, and down another corridoor, we found our room... only to find that our key didn't work. Luckily a cleaner was coming out of one of the other rooms and when we explained our problem she took our key and went to get us a new one, letting us into our room with her own key.
The room was nice, however they had neglected to tell us that they had given us the wheelchair accessible room. The problem with that was that the bathroom had heavy metal rails everywhere, and the shower was just a shower head on the wall with a shower curtain around it. The water nearly flooded the bathroom every time we had a shower. There was also a distinct lack of nice toiletries, something you expect from a Peppers Resort. But the rest of the room was very nice and had everything we needed.
We eventually got our new key. However, later than night after dinner in the hotel restaurant (where the food was good but the service was decidedly otherwise) we navigated the corridoors to our room only to find that our new key didn't work either. When my partner tried to take it back to reception we encountered a problem - we could not get out of the corridoor without a key unless we went outside and via the pool area, which was also locked! In the end my partner had to jump the pool fence to access the reception area to request a new key.
Early on the Sunday morning we were peacefully snoozing only to be interrupted by a loud knock on the door. A young man was asking if he could please 'check the mini bar'. Umm, no, it's 8am. We had requested a late checkout the day before and we were told we had until 12noon, but when we got back from breakfast there was another knock at the door, and two staff members rudely asked if we were leaving now as they had to clean the room. We replied that we had arranged a late checkout and would be leaving at twelve.
When we checked out there was no mention of the key problems or the interruptions.
The resort itself is quite pleasant; new and fresh and nicely furnished. However the poor service tarnished what would have been an enjoyable stay. If the resort can manage to train its staff in maintaining a 5 star level of service to accompany the facilities, then perhaps this would be a nice place to stay. As it is however, I couldn't recommend it.

We had no-where booked in hervey bay so were driving around looking for somewhere. Popped into this hotel and asked for a price for 2 days. Was given a room for $210 per night, which was a bit over what I was going to pay. Said I'd take it and boy was it worth every penny! We were given the most amazing apartment on the 2nd floor and had wonderful views of the pool and the sea beyond. We only requested a double bedroom but were given a fully serviced 2 bedroom apartment, brand new, and to the highest standard. We had our own private laundry in the apartment, so were able to get all our clothes sorted, which was very handy. The place was nothing short of spotless, and I couldnt fault the quality, design nor the layout of our 'room'. Reception staff were so friendly, professional, and helpful. The TV wasnt working one morning and I rang to let them know. They had someone up immediately to fix the problem. Such service - it was hard to come by in other hotels! However, I did request an appointment to get my hair done, but the salon decided it wasnt going to open as she had xmas shopping to do - even though signs up said they were open. Annoying! Also, very poor meal was had in their restaurant one evening, I complained to the waiter, and nothing was done about it - no apology - that annoyed me. However, 10/10 for the apartment - we did well to get the room we got and were very pleased.

Hervey Bay is great!

I have just returned from an overnight stay at the resort. I booked on their website and took particular note of their accomodation details. They state:- "From one bedroom suites to the luxurious three bedroom penthouse all suites have large balconies with sensational views over Hervey Bay."
This is a blatant LIE! I booked a one bedroom suite and when I arrived was given Room 006 on the ground floor two steps below even the pool level with a balcony about a meter square and with absolutely no view of anything. When I protested I was told that even though the building is about five storeys high all the units with nice views are owned by private investors and the bulk of the units the hotel manages are the worst located units on the ground floor with no views. Needless to say I had to stay in this lousy unit which I must admit was very nice apart from its location. Another problem I had was not being able to leave the balcony door open at night because of security concerns.
It would not have been so bad if I had known what type of room I was getting but I avoided their standby offer (which was around $100 cheaper) to ensure that I got a noce room and still finished up with the worst room on the resort!
