4th floor garden view room with gorgeous views of the bay.
Would not bother paying the ocean view room rates
Clean, well equipped, rooms services every 3 days is good as kids didnt have to be supertidy each day
Main bedroom very good. king size bed but lots of light let in with poor curtains. need to have blinds to block out light
Kids slept in main living area on converted sofa beds.
thin mattresses and quite light the disadvantages but lots of space, great balcony, kitchen facilities.
short walk to main resort. buggy hire for longer term or overnight as its cheaper. clownfish club excellent for older 8-10 years children. Pick what activites they can do before you book by checking timetable.
Steakhouse best restaurant for kids stay, play and eat.
Kids get Ribeye steak and salad, not just party pies or pizza.
Most kids meals really good. manta ray restaurant good for coffee only not for meals. Hamilton is exxxxi, take alcohol over with you and buy a stash of snacks and fruit for kids on the mainland. pools very cold at this time of year. Reef Hotel pool slightly warmed. Overall great family holday but take plenty of money

Well exceeded my expectations in terms of view and value for money. Go for a high floor. The changing shades of colour in the water is amazing especially as dusk approaches. I've stayed in dozens of good quality hotels - the view was the best I've ever had of a green and blue environment. The room itself and facilities were fine. Have I been back? Yes, in my dreams ! Location wise the 3 star rated rooms are far better value for money than the 5 star Beach Resort at sea level with the folk on the beach staring in.

We stayed at the Whitsunday Holiday Apartments on Hamilton Island for 3 days/2 nights, there were 4 of us in a Garden View apartment.
Overall the rooms and furnishings were very dated. The bed and beds/couches were fine, the linen was fine, and kitchen not too bad, however the state of the tiles throughout the apartment (unclean and greasy) and the old bathroom (yellow toilet, dirty and mouldy shower) were unacceptable. The whole hotel (if you could call it that) is in dire need of a major makeover.
The absolute worst part of our rooms was the pool that it became, as the walls were literally leaking, when we spoke to reception about it they said it was our fault for not having the airconditioning on.....WHAT? We didn't have the airconditioning on because we were cold, because it was raining and everywhere we went we constantly got wet.... we wished we could escape the rain however our room was wetter than outside.
Which brings me to the hotel staff, the majority were unhelpful and rude, little more needs to be said. Clearly more than the rooms need to be updated.
The lobby, the lifts and hallways are pretty ugly/old/really really dirty. The whole time we were here we found everything to be in major need of a thorough clean. We are aware this is not a five star resort, however we do expect things to be reasonably clean and comfortable.
We only swam in the pool with the Island bar and this was lovely and clean, the staff at the pool bar were great, fun, and friendly, and they made a great cocktail. All the other pools on the Island also looked lovely.
The beach however was not nice and the one time we went down there we noticed there was a lot of rubbish in and around the water...very sad
We had the full breakfast both mornings at the Pool Terrace Restaurant and this was fantastic, a huge spread that was regularly refilled. This restaurant was at the Reef View Hotel which looked far far nicer from what we saw than our hotel.
We ate at Toucan Tango once for lunch, the food here was ok and good for the price. We had a pizza delivered from Manta Ray Cafe this was ok, however totally overpriced, and we ate at Mariners for dinner where the food was quite nice and reasonably priced.
Almost everything on the Island is overpriced however we were prepared and took many things (food/drinks/extra money) with us.
The absolute best part of our holiday was the golf buggy we rented, it was so much fun and we would definately recommend it as it makes getting around the island so much easier.
Overall we probably wouldn't return to Hamilton Island as it was a very boring place in bad weather (and thats not something you can control), but if we did return we definately would not stay at the Whitsunday Holiday Apartments.

Whitsunday Island is in an ideal location on Hamilton island... close to the beach, pools and resturants. Very short walk to marina.
Stayed in a Ocean View Room on the 13th floor, which had the most beautiful views. If you have the extra cash hire a buggy for a few days just for the experience of being able to explore, but even without them it is very easy to get around with the free shuttle bus and short walk to the marina for restaurants, general store etc.
It is not as expensive as what everyone says, because you have a choice of what you want to eat... and staying in the Apartments you also have the kitchen.
The water is beautiful with sand not coral, but be careful to plan your day wisely with the tides... make sure you swim when there is water and do your other activities when there isn't. Because when the water goes out it goes out a long way. But there is so much more to do that you don't worry about it.
Other people might have written about how bad there stay was, but we have stayed a lot of places and this was defernately up there as one of the best locations. Remember it is an apartment not a five star resort. Will return and recommend it to anyone.
