Just come back from the Evason Spa Resort. In a word it is lovely. I wont bore readers with the resort as this is well documented. Here is a bit of advice about the area.
The resort is is in an area with no Night Clubs, bars etc. This, in my opion, is not perseved as a negative however. It is worth making your way to the village (10 minute walk or 2 mins on the motor scooter.) because it is here you meet and greet all the locals who are great by the way.. There are no tourist shops here but it is great mingling with the local villagers. It is advisable picking up a motor scooter which you will find in abundance on the beach front. But haggle. We got 2 x scooters for 2000 Baht for 10 days which is about ?3.60 a day. With a scooter you can go anywhere. We even drove to Hua Hin (approx 30mins) on many occassions. The journey takes you thro many villages, Well worth it. Go to Mr Sings bar on the beach front. He is a character & will make you very welcome. The drinks are VERY cheap as well. It is well worth the Quad bike trip from Mr. Moos. 2 hours touring the area on the quads with Mr Moo as your guide is good value. This trip can be arranged with Mr. Sing.
Massages are worth having on the beach front as well and dirt cheap. About 300 Baht. Fiver.

My wife and Istayed here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary.
We got married at the Sila Evason in Koh Samui and if I had to compare the two I would opt for Samui (Not Hua hin) everytime. Having said that, we had a great time here and chilled out completely.
We booked a pool room (unless you book a pool room I dont see the point in staying at the Evason !), it really is worth the extra few quid.
I found this resort cheaper than Samui !. The rooms cost the same, but dining and spa costs were cheaper here.
Our Butler was good and the resort as a whole was good also. Had I never stayed at the Koh Samui Evason, I would rate this resort as a 5.
As stated on other reviews its not in Hua hin, but in Pran Buri. Its 12 USD in a taxi to Hua hin and a 20 min drive.
BOOKING - we had to change plans at the last moment (immediately before travelling). We booked our original rooms though Asia rooms dot com. Then when we had to add an aditional night I booked through Expedia. It turned out that although I had booked both pool villas they were different rooms. The booking with asia rooms was a larger room, larger pool and a free wireless internet access in the room.
I wish they had told us this before we unpacked !. Anyway........
If you have time I would definately book through Asia Rooms rather than expedia. However Expedia offer instant booking and their last minute service was superb.
But for value for money, Asia rooms was far superior.
- The dining here was good but not excellent,
- The spa was excellent
- The rooms were fantastic
- The service was excellent also (Although Samui was marginally better)
We had an amazing time here and if it were not for walks along the beach and a short shopping trip in Hua Hin, we would never have left the resort. It was a great place to relax and without having to connect to the islands it was convenient and a great place to chill out.

We stayed for 7 nights at he Evason Resort in Hua Hin and absoltely loved it. Our pool villa was perfect and we enjoyed the entire stay very much.
The service staff was highly professional (best we have seen in 5+ star resorts so far) and were always available if needed. That being said, there is one thing that some of the other reviewers (and guests at the resort) might not fully understand. The staff will do their utmost to make your stay perfect. But you as a guest have to ask for those things that will do so. The butlers are avilable 24/7 but do not hover around you all the time. If there is something you want or expect, just ask them.
The resort itself is definetly something for people who want their peace and quite. It is very far from Hua Hin center (eventhough there is a shuttle service). There is not much to see or do around the resort. If you are looking for a lot of activities and nightlife in town, this is the wrong place to stay.
With respect to the prices in the resort for everything from spa treatments to drinks and food only this: It's a 5+ star resort. Prices are higher than at a local bar in a tourist destination. Just because it's Thailand, it does not mean that you get everything on the cheap. Looking at what you get for your money (perfectly kept facilities, highly professional staff, excellent food and drinks) the prices are very, very reasonable.
In conclusion, the Evason Hua Hin is the perfect destination if you want a perfect holiday experience with the chance to really relax and just enjoy yourself. For getting away from it all, for your honeymoon, etc. this is just perfect. We will defintely return to this resort as soon as possible and will also check out the other Evasons.
If you want typical tourist activities or have to pinch every penny, don't go there. For people with children I would not recommend it either because the little ones might get bored rather easily (even though the Evason seemed to have an excellent child care programme).
