Just returned from our 5 day vacation at the Compass Cove in Myrtle Beach. We had a great time, I chose Compass Cove because of other review's I had read. I felt the room was average (nothing bad, but nothing great). I too felt the pools were a little small. We stayed in the Pinicle building in an OF room on the 7th floor. The view of the ocean was wonderful, I am used to seeing a pool down below from the balcony but there wasn't one. All the pools are spread out throughout the 3 buildings. My husband fell twice in the Submarine pool while playing with the kids. It was a little slippery on the bottom. We did enjoy all the pools though. We had plenty of room in our room. There were four of us and could have fit 4 more in there. We had two double beds when you enter the room then you walk into the kitchen with the bathroom on the left. Continue thru to a room with a pull out couch and a pull down bed from the wall. We had 2 t.v.s and a table that seats four. The kitchen was a little small, my biggest complait with the kitchen would be the counter space (or lack there of), and the sink would clog up fast. I didn't see that anything of the building was "new or recently renovated", but everything was clean. To me that is the most important thing is being clean!! The maid staff was there everyday and did a great job of cleaning the room and leaving fresh towels. We always had clean dry towels available at all the pools, that was a great service. I will say it wasn't fun standing in line at check-in. I've never seen a place that is so strict about not checing in until 3pm. It didn't take that long, but standing outside in the July heat in a line to give someone your money is not fun for even a minute. We never tried the food or the bar so I can't comment on that. We did have to park across the street a few times. It wasn't that big of a deal and at least we could always find a spot. The elevators were slow and very HOT, but what do you expect in July. All in all we had a great time and would stay there again. Hope this helps!

My husband and I took 6 high school students to Myrtle Beach for a national convention June 18 - 21. We booked online through the resort website. We purchased a package deal that included breakfast coupons. We LOVED the breakfast buffet. The food and service was great! In fact, everyone that worked at the hotel was friendly and helpful. The pools and lazy rivers were smaller than we anticipated and there were lots of little kids around so the high school students with us didn't use any of them except for the hot tubs. The beach front was nice, so they were all happy! We had a 3 bedroom oceanfront condo in the Mariner building. It was VERY nice. I liked the unit layout. I also appreciated having a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, dishes, and washer and dryer. We would definitely return to Compass Cove. - But we would make sure to get a package again that included the breakfast buffet because it really saved us money and time.

I would have given a zero (0) but that option was not available. After checking in from a long 8 hour drive there is nothing worst than an uninviting and unfriendly check in staff. In addition to that, A nasty bug -- not a palmetto bug which are found in some areas of Myrtle Beach, was a waking surprise the next day. On top of that there were a few offensive and inappropriate actions by another guest of the hotel. But once bug was found we knew it was time to go. We expressed our concerns with or dissatisfaction - management charged us an extra day because we wanted to check out immediately (at this time it was around 2pm) when we woke to find a nasty bug in the bed - naturally most would not want to stay. we spoke to two managers ( who were not very sympathetic with our situation and totally disregarded our total satisfaction - and even charged us for that day and we didn’t even stay. I deserved a full refund and they were trying their best to get more money out of us even as we were leaving - unbelievable. I would not suggest staying here to anyone. People who own at this resort will try to sell you the idea because they are stuck with it - but if you really want a nice resort stay at the north end. that's what we ended up doing. Even a few members of the staff informed us of some of the issues with people running the place. What an inconvience to have try to find another hotel during 4th of July week - but it was worth it to get away from Compass Cove. Overall, rooms not clean, staff is not welcoming, and parking is horrible - if you have a nice car - you are better off parking on the highway than in their garage - that's if u can find a space. do you and your family a favor - if you want to enjoy your family vacation - find another resort. A vacation should be relaxing, comfortable not stressful. I wont begin to reveal how they screwed up my credit and bank account. they actually charged me another full account to my card when we checked out by mistake - and I guess when they realized that error they immediately issued a credit for the second charge - when they were supposed to be refunding my money - is that crazy?

First time at Compass Cove; made decision based on the reviews I read. Was everything we wanted and more. Myself & two 12 yr old boys stayed on the 12th Floor (Room 1257) in the Pinnacle Bldg (6/21-6/28). Perfect view of the ocean from the OF balcony. Our housekeeper, Chilly, did a great job of keepng our room tidy, clean towels stocked and everything looking & feeling fresh. We ate breakfast only once at the buffet, food was very good, service great & surroundings clean. Pools always looked great, kids loved the lazy river that ran both indoor/outdoor. Beachfront was kept very clean and the staff did an excellent job keeping the walkways to & from the beach and into the hotel as clean as possible during the day. We had a full kitchen in our room; all we used was the fridge, toaster & coffeemaker but everything looked clean and worked well. Depending on the time we returned to the hotel each evening there were many nights we had to park across the street in the overflow parking deck. This was never a problem; extra 5 mins to walk to room and deck is clean & well lit. Arrived for check-in at 2:45pm on Sat., line was not too long & room was ready. We were unloaded and headed up to our room by 3:30pm; great set-up for loading/unloading luggage. Yes, we also had to wait several minutes for elevators but it really was no big deal. I think the longest we waited was 3 minutes or so. Of course, if you are tired or wet and anxious to get to your room it feels a lot longer. They have plenty of elevators, they just also have a lot of guests. Would definitely recommend this hote/resort and will absolutely be returning on our next trip to Myrtle Beach.
