For less money, we could have stayed in a hotel that was closer to the attractions, had a better view, and had larger rooms with larger beds. I reluctantly agreed to stay here with a group. When we got there, two of our rooms did not have any hand towels or washcloths and one didn't have a TV remote. The drain for the tub was clogged. They make it seem like it's so kid friendly, but there wasn't much for the kids to do. The clown that came stood at one table the whole time. The dinner buffet was overpriced. The wait for the elevator was ridiculous. When we asked for non-down feather pillows due to allergies, they claimed that all their pillows were polyfill, but they brought up 3 new pillows to appease us. Each one of the pillows they brought up had down feathers. I will say the service was good and the workers were friendly. I just think we could have done better for the money.

Wanted to getaway with family for a few days and after doing some research we choose the Clarion. Rooms were nice and comfortable for family of 4, small fridge and microwave was perfect. Indoor heated pool with nice bar, the lower deck bar had band playing in afternoon which was very good. We ate in Restaraunt and tried Buffet and food was actually pretty good for Hotel, the servcie during our enite stay was great. Would return in a minute.

We stayed one night at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel in Ocean City, MD. The hotel was a pleasant surprise. Though rated in the bottom of the pack here, our experience was much more enjoyable than others describe.
We had a "Oceanfront" room with two doubles. The "Ocenafront" designation, as duly noted in other reviews, is a misnomer. The view is more of a side view which means you can see the bay, the island, and the ocean--but the view is most directly of the property on either side of the hotel.
The room was clean and adequate for this type of hotel. There was plenty of space for four of us. The internet service worked well. They had a good variety of television channels available. The pool was larger than many at hotels I have been to recently. Our 11 year old daughter enjoyed swimming there. We grabbed a couple of drinks from the bar and watched her--the drinks were good but not great. My wife and I enjoyed an evening in the bar after coming back from a show at the SunFest. The band was very good. The drinks seemed reasonable priced for this type of location.
We did eat the Breakfast Buffett at the hotel also. It was good, but I am not sure it deserved the moniker "World Famous"...the staff was attentive and the food was above average but not excellent. No worries at check-out...the elevators were crowded at busy times, though.
Overall, our stay was very nice. I feel like the value was within reason. I did get the reservationist to knock of 20% when I called in--don't take the first rate offer and be nice. It could save you some money!

Stayed here in October 2007 on a golf trip. We had a tremendously good experience. Twelve men, all coming from different directions and checking in at different times, and we were happy. In fact, we're returning next year.
Prior to coming here I read the reviews on this site and some of them caused some concern. However it didn't stop me from coming because all our plans were made. My experience was very good. We ended up staying at the hotel each evening rather than go elsewhere to eat. Their restaurant, sports bar and buffet was more than I expected and met all our requirements for quality and taste of food as well as atmosphere for hosting a dozen golfers on a trip.
Check in was normal except for the small confusions that one would expect with twelve different guys checking in at different times and looking for their roomie. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the employees were excellent. Parking right in front of the hotel is sparse for the size of the hotel but there is plenty right across the street. This wasn't a problem for us when we were there as the summer season was past and we didn't have any bumper to bumper traffic to navigate if we missed a slot right in front. One of our guys arrived from the south pulling a boat and he had no problems with space for it across the street.
The animals were not a problem and weren't a factor in our stay even though we saw many of them. This is because they were on other floors and all the owners seemed to be sensitive to other people and handled the dogs accordingly.
I concluded that the concerns that were raised on this site by others were fostered by the summer season when Ocean City is innundated with people. Then I believe it's more of a problem meeting everyone's expectations.
