Hotel Veneto is not the best 3 star hotel we've ever stayed in but it has a really good location, not far from Via Veneto. The reception area is very small, with no lounge and bar area that we could see or use, although the information we read on the internet said to the contrary. The bedroom was small, outdated with blue embossed wallpaper and old fashioned italian replica furniture badly in need of replacement, however it was clean and had air conditioning.
The breakfast was taken in the adjoining hotel and was on the roof top with great views across Rome, although the first day was a nightmare as we queued for about 30mins with the harrassed waitress running around trying to please everyone, They also frequently ran out of the basic provisions but very quickly replaced them when asked and was always very polite.
If you wanted a drink at the end of the day you also had to go to the adjoining hotel, which was no major problem as you could walk straight through from one hotel to the other without going into the street.
All in all the hotel was ok for what we paid. The hotel staff were very friendly and courteous and if you are the sort of people like us that doesn't spend a lot of time in the hotel only to sleep then it is perfectly adequate.
Rome itself is absolutely beautiful with great things to see. Do take the open top green hop on hop off bus for a cost effective, great way to explore this great city. You can buy a 12 or 48 hour pass and use it as many time as you want. It also has a running commentry of interesting facts as you go round in all different languages.
I would go back to Rome like a shot but would stay on the other side near Trevi Fountain and the Panthenon as it was quite expensive where we were. We paid nearly 20 euros for a normal glass of wine and 0.4cl of beer, and our evening meal with just one course and a bottle of wine cost on average 70 euros.

Our stay at the hotel was only 2 nights. On arrival at the hotel it didn't look impressive from outside, however you should never judge a book by its cover!
Location was good within easy walking distance of Trevi Fountain, spanish steps. It Is located in what seemed to be the financial district, however close to via veneto... lots of modern/chic bars and restaurants.
The hotel is currently undergoing renovation work, but it didn't interfere with our stay. Nice interior of the hotel, very clean and evidently been recently improved. Concierge are very helpful in bringing luggage up to your room.
The room we stayed in was a double deluxe bedroom (no 307) with jacuzzi bath and massage shower... don't be fooled into thinking you will have a big bathroom, it was very small and they have fitted too much into a tight room! Bath was just about big enough to fit one, but even that was a squeeze. Fixtures and fittings are luxurious, just a shame that there was the odd unfinished final touches that would have made it perfect (e.g. Towel rail plumbing fitted, minus the actual heated towel rail.)
The bedroom -It had lovely marble floors and the features were typically Italian... very romantic! we were told it was a king-size bed... yeah pehaps in size, but two single beds put together and dressed like a king-size bed. Decor comprised of golds, creams and reds... very warm and cosy feel. Mini bar reasonably priced, and in room safe was a good feature. One downside to the bedrooms are that you can hear a little too much of your guests next door, above and below, walls are paper thin!
Services - Mmmm..... room service - not strictly true, unless you are only thirsty and fancy a drink from the menu! Breakfast room is not as advertised on websites on top floor with panoramic views of rome, due to renovation we had to use a room on ground floor witch was a little disappointing, but i'm sure when renovations are over breakfast would be back on seventh floor.
One last piece of advice... Don't take the hotels offer upon a private car from airport for 60 euros, white taxi cabs only cost a fixed price of 30 euros from airport into anywhere in centre of rome. We made the mistake of this for convenience, however the driver only knew our name and not the hotel we were staying at, so as you can imagine... the non english speaking driver and the not so good speaking italian passangers made for an interesting trip! How that works we still can't work out when it is arranged by the hotel themselves!!
Overall impression was good, would use it again but pehaps once renovation is over.

this hotel was booked a fortnight before we went to rome for 2 nights, at a cost of ?116 for a double room for 2 nights i was very impressed. the hotel is in an easy walking distance for the spanish steps and trevi fountain as well as the bus stop for the open top tour buses. also within a 5 min walk is the hard rock cafe-well worth a visit for the great food and livley atmosphere
the hotel room itself was very spacious, complete with jacuzzi bath, flat screen tv, slippers, toiletries etc,
the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, they provided a map of the city
one point to be wary off, we paid 30 euros for a taxi from the airport, when we asked the hotel to ring one for our retyurn we were quited 50 euros, so we declined and walked 2 streets to a taxi rank were the first taxi quoted 30 euros!

Hotel with good amenities. Rooms large enough. Room, bathroom and linen were very clean. Breakfast was excellent and brought to the room for a small sum (3 euro). Staff were extremely attentive and helped book museum reservations and called taxis with no bother.
Some redecorating being undertaken but it did not detract from the visit.
Overall a very good experience during the five days of our visit.
