We stayed in the Due Torri Hotel Baglioni in June 2008 and paid ?404 per night for a double room. The hotel interior is fairly dark and could almost be classed as 'gothic'. We were shown up to our room but it appeared small and drab so we requested a better room and were willing to pay whatever supplement was required. The reception staff provided keys for several other rooms but on seeing the alternatives we decided to stay in our original room because the alternatives were worse.
On the first night we retired to bed quite early and awoke the following morning with wet feelings around our midriff. On inspection, we discovered that we had awoken in what can diplomatically be best described as a 'wet bed'. We pulled back the sheets to find that the mattresses had bath towels and a double sheet covering the wet patch before the bed had been made up for our arrival.
We showered and went down to reception to report the issue. We were met with a very matter of fact attitude and told that the mattresses would be changed.
On returning to the hotel at approx. 3pm in the afternoon nothing had been done. We then had the distressing task of returning to reception to start complaining. The housekeeping staff eventually came to the room and after lengthy 'discussions' the mattresses were eventually changed. No apology for this horrendous situation was forthcoming from the hotel at the time of our stay - which says it all about the service provided.
On the plus side, the location is great and the breakfast is adequate.

Well, things have changed at the Due Torri. I, as most people only read the reviews after returning. Good Job too, as things have obviously changed significantly at the Du Torri. We arrived to great service to the room - nice clear guides in the beautiful room. Excellent levels of service with many extra touches. Bowl of fruit in the room - the weather forecast left on the bed each night for the next day - a lit candle in the bathroom in the evening when the beds were turned down. We stayed when the group Kiss were playing the ampitheatre, but the staff dealt well with the ensuing comotion as if it were just another day. The staff are welcoming, helpful and fantastic. Food in the hotel was excellent, and the service extremely attentive. We give particular gratitude to Franco at the bar. Extremely friendly, helpful - gave us good recommendations for things to do and places to eat. All in all, I would say that this place really has smartened up it's act - and I would recommend that it certainly does deserve it's 5* status. To be honest, can't fault it and if your budget will take you there - go for it!

I found this hotel to be excellent. The giant central room is very elegant and a wonderful place to have a drink. The staff was friendly. The rooms are small but nice--the elevator was small. The breakfast was good. Walking distance to everything.
Is this really a 5* hotel?

I found the recommendation for this hotel in a guide book- Eyewitness Travel Guide and must admit I was somewhat disappointed. It was presented as "one of Italys most exentric hotels in a vast 14th century building, each room decorated in a style from a particular period". The room was nice, and everything seemed to work satisfactorily, but that was pretty much it. The staff was rather arrogant, but never rude to us.
It was not what I expected, and it was rather expensive. I paid 220 euro for a double room, breakfast included. I noted in the a la carte breakfast meny that half a grapefruit was priced to something like 6-7 euro!!!
The location was good, but had no parking facility. I had to pay 26 euro per night to park the car in some garage they had somewhere - I just left the key in the reception and they took care of it.
