This is my absolute favorite place to stay in Tuscon. It is very scenic, the food is good, the staff is nice, the rooms are comfy, and the location is great. I'm a little bummed that they don't sell Sprite anymore, but it's still THE best place to stay in Tuscon. A true luxury hotel. (Oh, and they have a great pool, some classic movies, and Disney animated movies for kids, so this is a family resort.)

First things firs, I love this hotel and will stay there every year until I die (or move to Tucson), whichever comes first.
Secondly, this beautiful old lady of a hotel is not for everyone. The dining room is as formal as Luis XVIII would have had at Versailles, the bar is straight out of Bogart’s Casablanca, and there is a library (yes, a hotel with a library) with numerous wonderful books available to guests. If you are illiterate you may want to go elsewhere. This is a hotel for the weary and wary traveler, the romantic young couple, the romantic older couple, all bookworms at heart (and in practice), and any others who respect and admire established formality, culture, and decency. I am primarily a business traveler, in my late 30’s, and find this hotel (and all it’s resort accoutrements) a true institution of what a historic fine hotel should be. The rooms are not grand, but are good and have nice big flat panel LCD screens, DVD players, free internet, comfortable beds and chairs, and (of course) books! Each room has a book selection ranging form the historical to the sublime; I read a book there every year I am there from whatever I pick up. There is breakfast at the pool, high tea in the library, and a concourse de elegance in the dining room each evening.
This hotel is “steeped in history” from when superstars such as John Wayne (The Duke) and Gary Cooper (Sergeant York and Architect Roark) stayed at the inn while making movies at varied Arizona desert locations, back when movies were movies. Not much appears to have changed at the Inn since this time, it is all old century grace and style.
The gardens and grounds are incredible, and worth shooting your wedding portfolio with a good professional photographer. Flowers everywhere, trees with ripe fruit, and sweet plants sent the air wherever you walk inside the walled sanctuary of this place. Go there with a good book, or get one there. Melt your credit card and leave the world behind

We felt pampered during our 3 nights at the Arizona Inn. Staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. Our teenage daughter loved the workout facility; our pre-teen daughter loved the pool, ping-pong table and croquet. A great way to start the day is with the NY Times delivered to your room and breakfast by the pool. The landscaping is beautifully done. Everything at the Arizona Inn shows great attention to detail. We'd love to stay here again.

I rencently stayed at the Arizona Inn on business and was extremely pleased. When I walked in and realized the Inn was a historic hotel I was a bit nervous as i have stayed at other historic hotels that were run down. The Arizona Inn was quite the opposite.
The hotel manages to combine modern day ammenities such as complimentary high speed internet while maintaining the originial historic feel of the hotel.
In addition to free internet the hotel also offers complimentary bottled water in your room; and each room also has a mini-refrigerator. An ice-cream bar is also offered by the pool in the evenings.
During my stay I had breakfast in the main dining room and at the pool, and had dinner catered by banquet facilities. All of the food was outstanding. The hotel also offers a piano bar where light fare and cocktails are available. It's a great place to unwind.
I found the staff to be extremely attentive. Service in the main dining room, at the pool and front desk were top notch. The Arizona Inn is a great place to combine business and pleasure; or a great place to bring your family who can lounge by the pool while you are stuck in meetings.
The Inn is located only blocks away from the University of Arizona in a residential neighborhood. Tucson isn't what I consider a taxi town so you will definitely need a rental car. Free parking at the Inn is available.

really quite a beautiful spot, if you stay inside the compound. well maintained and sometimes very beautiful grounds. it reminded me a little of the belaire in los angeles. room interiors are fine but a little dated. if you are going in a group try to get a few rooms that essentially combine into a large private patio area - that was a great added bonus for ours.
breakfast is fabulous. lunch average and dinner simply horrible. not the food per se but the ridiculous amount of time it took to serve it. there is a great requirement for some better staff management in the kitchen. i'd eat out at dinner, if you could, and there are a few interesting places fairly close by (by car).
but don't let the food view dissuade you from going.
