This resort is by far one of the best on the island of Kauai. I arrived late at night, and the staff was very prompt in checking me into my room. The hotel is wonderfully decorated from the lobby to the guest room. I was in an execuitive level room which granted me access to the lounge. This perk is worth the extra. I booked a mountain view room, but I still had a good view of the ocean. The beach in front of the resort isn't really for swimming, but their are many in a short drive. I stayed at three hotels in Hawaii during my visit, the Hilton is by far the best.

My wife and I came to Kauai for a week's celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary and chose the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort as our place to stay. In the main, we were happy that we did. Though as many other reviewers have pointed out, it is necessary to have a rented car unless one wants to eat, sleep, and play exclusively at the hotel itself, we found that no problem. The few parking lots were often crowded but never so much that it wasn't simple to find a place within easy walking distance of the main lobby. Everyone on the staff, from the outgoing front desk personnel to the doormen or repairmen were always friendly and efficient. Our room was extremely comfortable and always immacuably clean. The pools were nice and if the beach didn't offer swimming possibilities, it was without question a great place to walk and enjoy the beauty of the Pacific.
Unlike some reviewers, we liked the relative isolation of the hotel. At the same time, the Hilton is situated conveniently to both the Lhue airport and just off the main highway that connects the hotel to everywhere else on the island. Nothing about the Hilton says "cheap," especially the room rates or its food costs, but there are dozens of reasonable restaurants within easy commuting distance of the hotel and we enjoyed a number of them throughout the week both in Lihue and in a number of neghboring towns.
Simply stated, we loved the Hilton. Others have noted that the Marriott just down the road a proverbial hope, skip, and jump is both larger and fancier and that it would offer a nice alternative and they're right. It is, indeed, a beautiful place. That having been said, however, we'd still choose the Hilton Kauai Beach again--and hopefully there will cefrtainly be lots of "agains" in the years to come because it is a special place. The few "glitches" mentioned above probably should reduce its rating from a 5 to a 4.7 or 4.65 if that were possible but since it isn't, we're glad to give the hotel our highest plus.

We booked 2 nights at this resort only because we had enough Hilton points to book at no cost. I had read some mixed reviews at Trip Advisor, particularly about beach quality, and I know that the area around Princeville is much more 'in' now than Lihue. That said, we were absolutely delighted with this resort on all counts. The staff is VERY friendly. Malia greeted us at check in and answered all of our questions, treating us as if we were the most important part of her day. (later I saw another family receiving the same treatment from her!) Extra towels - no problem, print your boarding pass - of course! Everywhere we went staff were quick to smile and ask if we needed anything.
The hotel foyer opens to the pools/waterfalls/spas - all beautiful - and on to the ocean. We walked the ocean front 3 days at varying times and never saw as much as a dirty cup. Beautiful!
The resort appears to be quite family oriented but we appreciated the FREE maitai cocktails served daily from 5-6 and the entertainment options for couples in the evening.
The rooms have everything you need, all have balconies - and it is definitely worth it to have an ocean or pool view. Restaurant is pricey - options are pool and bar and loads of cheap eat options just down the road.
Finally, the location proved to be an asset for us. We were midway between the drive to Hanelai Bay and the drive to the Canyon - both 'do not miss' places on the island and we could maximize our island time as we were only minutes from the airport. If you want continued access to the best island shops and restaurants this may not be for you, as these are 30 minutes away, but if you want to kick back and just enjoy, this is your place.
Been to many, many Hilton properties - this was one of the best and truly the friendliest.
