The hotel is fine, especially considering the price you pay for it (around 100$ per night). It is conveniently located 5 minutes (walking) from Nord train station (train from the airport stops here). It is also 5 minutes from Old Town and large shopping center (M2).
Yes, the neighbourhood is not perfect but it does not look dangerous, either. There are many office building nearbys and the police headquarters. Opposite the hotel there is a nice park (jardin botanique). Rooms are clean and I have never experienced any problems there during my 4 stays. And I will stay again - could not find anything better at this price.

We stayed in this hotel for one night. We've got a double room, it was spacious. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The location it's not very good, is a litle bit far from the center, +/- 20 minutes walking to reach the grand place and not very safe. It's near the gare du nord and the metro red line, stop "Rogier".
To stay a couple of nights it's nice.

The hampshire inn was comfortable, went for a weekend with 5 friends,
found the staff extremely nice. Rooms were nothing special, but clean
and tidy. The location on the other hand was an eye opener, i thought
we were in Amsterdam instead of Brussels and it felt a bit unsafe, i would'nt walk around the area alone, but i was in a group so it was fine, it cost about 10 euro for a taxi to the lively spots, 1.90 for the tram. Felt safer getting a taxi, i would'nt advice a family to stay here but for couples and groups it was fine, and Brussels is an excellent, lively city, would stay here again. Cheap too.

Hi, I just stayed at this hotel for 2 nights.
First of all it is far from the center. For example to the GRAND PLACE, you would have to walk +/- 25 minutes.
The hotel is clean and ok but the location :-(((((((( not safe at all, it is not far from the GARE DU NORD and behind the RED LIGHT DISTRICT (as they call it in Amsterdam), meaning the women selling their body in the windows.
I would really suggest to pay 10-25 euros more a night and to stay in the center of Brussels because I took a taxi to the hotel one night and paid 10 Euros, so .... DEFINITELY NOT TO RECOMMEND TO WOMEN ONLY !!!!
A few details from the hotel: SINGLE rooms are very small with one samll bed and no safe. Parking outside is at your own risk because again the area is so unsecure as you can just see anybody in the street aroundthe hotel.
I had a great experience a few months ago at HESPERIA GRAND PLACE which cost 10-20 euros more and is very near to the center and some rooms have even terrace.
