We had the best weekend for a great value. All of the hotel employees went out of their way to make our stay very pleasant. The facility was well kept and the beach was like heaven. We had the best lunch in the Spinners Restaurant while enjoying the spinning view of the area. We enjoyed it so much that we will be having our daughters wedding ceremony right on the beach with the reception up in the Presidential Ballroom overlooking the Gulf.

Great staff. Very helpful and friendly. Room was a little short on floorspace, but nice, clean, and had everything we needed.
Room service was very good.
The view from the balcony (we had a beach front room) was beautiful. The balcony was a good size.
We did not hear our neighbors. The hotel was quiet even though it was completely booked while we were there.
We did not have any problems getting a nice parking space.
Check in and check out were quick and easy.
Very pleasant experience.

Stayed here 3yrs ago when it was a Holiday Inn--not a good experience.
Stayed for 4nights June 2008--Many improvements, Great hotel, Great location, The staff at the Grand Plaza are wonderfull. Every employee we encountered was pleasent, friendly, and they all go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The beach is great.
Rooms are spacious and kept clean. Highly recommend the Grand Plaza. We will be back!!

First the positive: Beautiful view of the ocean and sunsets!
Negatives:
-The room was cramped and dirty. It was described as having a king bed, one double bed and a sofa. With two teens in our party we wanted the extra room to stretch out. They fail to mention the double bed is actually a Murphy bed that when extended covers up the sofa. Not to mention takes up a lot of floor space to move around. Although comfy, the mattress on the king bed was dirty.
-The bathroom was cramped with not much counter space for toiletries. There were rust stains on the fixtures and the grout was dingy. There were some very 60's type of mirrored tiles on the ceiling which makes me wonder what they mean by "remodeled in 2006". Obviously, these tiles have been there for years.
-The room was described as a beachfront room with direct access to the beach. What they really mean is a direct view of the ocean.
-The elevators took a really long time both on the way up or down. There are only two and they were always crowded. Many times we gave up the wait and used the stairs. (I remind you we were on the 5th floor.)
-They ran out of beach towels so we had to wait until more were washed.
-Although the room was adequately cooled, the halls are stifling. I can assume they are not air conditioned.
-Hotel is very noisy and you can here the smallest sounds resonate through the halls. Impossible if you want to sleep late.
-No extras offered like a morning paper, extra towels, ....
-Although they offer free wireless internet access, they charge for the use of their computers located in the lobby ($5/use).
-Videos were available for rent in the lobby but very pricey at $7 each.
For the money we paid we expected so much more. The word resort is used loosely to described the hotel. I can only assume it is considered a resort because of it's on site restaurants and bars. No other amenities were offered such as on site shops or spa.
Travelers: shop around before settling on this one.
