Good Location, Close to Gare de Nord but not in the horrible bit

Booked this Hotel through the Eurostar booking line. I got quite a good deal over Xmas with tickets on le train and the hotel included in an offer.
The location is quite good. Its downhill from Gare de Nord so is easy to get to on foot with suitcases etc.
The area around Gare de Nord is not very nice but this Hotel is far enough away for that not to be a problem. Its on a quiet side street too.
There is a great little restaurant next door, quite quirky and very french. Food is fantastic and if you try to speak a bit of Francais you'll get on fine.
The Hotel is walking distance to Sacre Ceour as well as being walking distance to Galleries Lafayette. There is a metro station just up the street for destinations further afield.
Check in service was very friendly. Breakfast is simple but effective.
Rooms aren't big, but then this is Paris. Blackout curtains are great and the beds are comfortable.
I would recommend this place, its not the most unique Paris Hotel but for what it is, it is very good.

I've just returned from a one night stay at the 9Hotel. It was spotless and clean with nothing to complain about.
Yes, the rooms are on the tight side, they have a hanging rack instead of a wardrobe and it is a 20 minutes to walk to the Seine but I'd stay there again.
I felt perfectly safe in and walked everywhere.
Overpriced!

With all due respect, I do not understand all these raving reviews about the 9 Hotel in Paris.
Yes, the location is in central Paris and yes, the interior and decoration is ok.
But the value for money is way out of order. I paid a EUR 160,- per room per night for a room which was about 12m2 with a tiny bed and a tiny bathroom with a tiny shower. When you opened the door it almost touched the bed and kind of side table in the room and there was no place or space at all to leave your clothes except in your own suitcase.
I have lived in Paris for a year, came back many times since and booked several hotels in the past few years. But for these prices I expcect a lot more!

Stayed in this lovely small Boutique hootel with my wife in April 2008 for 5 nights. The hotel is clean and modern and in a great location just off the Rue LaFayette within walking distance of the Opera district,Montmartre. The hotel is also within walking distance from the Gard Du Nord train station and also has 2 metro staions nearby Poissonniere and Cadet. As i had stated when booking the hotel that i was taking my wife to Paris for her birthday the hotel left a gift for my wife with a card wishing her a happy birthday which was a really nice gesture. The staff were also excellent and extremely helpful.I will be returning to Paris again and will be staying @ the 9Hotel.
