A Wonderful, Relaxing Vacation

After reading some of the reveiws, I was unsure whether I had made the right choice or not. After arriving with my husband and 3 teenagers, it was immediately apparent that we had made a wise choice. The grounds are beautiful! Our place was neat, clean, and very roomy. The only downside that I found was the placement of the bathroom door which opens into the front of the toilet in the master bedroom. Not a deal breaker! The lagoon style pool is very large. We all enjoyed this pool and did walk over to the other smaller pool, but since we were on the side closer to the lagoon pool, it was our choice. The beach area is really not much of a beach. It is basically good for very small children who like to play in the shallow water or people that bring the lounge chairs out into the shallow water and lay on them. There are other beaches in the area (Sombrero) within a very close proximity. The Tiki Bar was very nice and the personal were very friendly. Everyone that we encounted there was more than friendly. I knew that the restaurant in the resort was expensive, so we choose not to go there although there always seemed to be many people there. The sunsets (when the clouds are not in the way) can be beautiful. Overall, I would recommend this place to families and would not hesitate returning.

I just returned home from a romantic "adult" getaway with my husband. We absolutely LOVED Tranquility Bay. That is a perfect name for it. We loved relaxing on our porches (off the master upstairs and the living room downstairs) sipping coffee enjoying the quiet mornings and beautiful views. We also loved watching the sunset disappear into the gulf right from the Tiki bar while sipping Pina Coladas! The staff is great, very accommodating! We were staying at the Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada but friends were staying at Tranquility. When I called to see if we could get a room there was one two bedroom villa left and by the time I went to get my credit card to make the reservation the room was reserved. The same girl remembered and upgraded us to the three bedroom (end unit) close to our friends for the same price. It was soo nice. We loved it! We can not wait to go back and bring our children. Oh and the food at the Butterfly Cafe is delicious with a quaint atmosphere. And the Tiki Bar has good food priced reasonably also! This, I think, is one of the nicest full amenity resorts in all the Keys. My only issues (minor in comparison) are 1) it is a bit of a walk to the bathrooms from the Tiki but staff said they are working on that. 2) The Tiki Bar was out of the beer my husband liked the first night we were there and a few liquors (I guess they were waiting on a shipment). 3) Housekeeping slacked "a LITTLE" on the floors (we are PICKY) but they were very nice: )

Tranquility Bay is beautiful. We just came back from the Florida Keys. We booked the Tranquility the day before we arrived. The house was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Everything was provided to us to enjoy our stay. We were given pool and beach towels along with all amenities in the kitchen. The staff, especially bell staff, was very friendly and helpful. I will say that the beach was small but considering you are on the keys, very nice. The kids were able to snorkle in the swimming area and see horseshoe crabs, sea rays and lots of fish. If we go back to the keys this will absolutely be a place to stay again.

We stayed at Tranq. Bay Marathon with our two teenage boys. We loved the place because it was well kept and very scenic. One day the maids took our beach towels that were left on the floor to be replaced and they forgot to leave clean ones. When we called they were brought over right away. The hours that the Tiki bar was open was not very long and it was very quiet. Even though we are not big partiers it would have been nice to see some entertainment at night. When I called the hotel to check on "kid friendly" menus they stated that the Tiki bar or main restaurant had a typical "hamburger, hot dog & fries" menus for kids (no age limit). When we got there the Tiki bar DID NOT serve any hotdogs or hamburgers. They only had gourmet sandwiches and grilled cheese for kids ($12.00) cooked on a sandwich grill. The remainder of the selection was not for teenagers that have not traveled a lot. Don't get me wrong - my husand and I tried one meal at the main restaurant and absolutely loved it. The only draw back was the price, it costing us $100.00 (BEFORE TIP) for 2 people and we only had one cocktail each. I think my biggest complaint was the lack of non gourmet food for children. At least the Tiki bar should have had a bigger selection.
The pool was great (both) but the beach was not suited for swimming. You walk in up to your ankles and you come across sea weed. Seems to be the norm around there.
