My husband and I stayed at the Chimo Hotel for four nights and attended a wedding there. The Good Stuff: The lobby was modern and clean, and the front desk staff was very polite and helpful. Housekeeping was also very helpful and attentive. There is a good mall within very short walking distance. There is a bus station at the mall which will get you downtown in approx. 10 minutes. The food in the lounge was pretty good and reasonably priced. The service was also good. Chicken dish at the wedding we attended was very good. The service was also fine. Great facilities for special events. The Bad Stuff: The rooms weren't so great. Our air conditonner was loud, clunky and didn't work so well. Our room was always humid. You only get two flat pillows per bed. Not enough towels. No open windows and no balcony. Ten minute drive to get downtown. It's an okay hotel for the price I guess but we wouldn't stay there again if we return to Ottawa. As tourists, we would have prefered to be closer to downtown.

The Chimo Ottawa is a 2+ star hotel at best. You know you are in trouble when you get off the elevator on your designated floor and the hallways are not air-conditioned. And this was a very muggy, hot day. The rooms are fine-clean but dated. The beds was extremely comfortable with good (not great) linens. The air conditioning unit was put on high and barely cooled the room adequately. No bottled water in the room. The bathrooms are small and the towels were extremely flimsy and thin, but clean. The good points: The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is located right across from a great mall and there are lots of dining options located within walking distance. There is a decent restaurant on the premises, as well as a swimming pool. I saw several guests coming and going from the pool. I have stayed at better hotels in Ottawa so I would definitely look around. FYI-this hotel is a $35.00 cab ride from the airport.

This was just a great hotel and I will definatly be staying here again. It was opposite a big shopping centre and was close to the bus station. It was only 10 mins away from the city centre and very conviniently located for our needs. The pool was great as it was supervised for all of the hours it was open. The hotel itself was clean tidy and presentable. The staff were very helpful too. When we went back to Ottawa later in the year we did not stay here and regretted our decision.

I stay at the Chimo Hotel about three times a year on business. This is not the most expensive Hotel in Ottawa nor is it the best Hotel in Ottawa. Normally the staff at check in are friendly and helpful however I have had an occasion or two when they were less than helpful. The on site bar and restaurant are very good for quality and value of food. They are also open convenient hours. The rooms, depending on the one you get, are spacious and nicely decorated. The pool is also a nice feature. Cleanliness in some areas may be an issue, however this is an older hotel and it is kept in very good condition. Recommended as a good place to stay on business.

Stayed night of Dec. 29, due to a last-minute decision to extend our stay in Ottawa by a night. Although we are smokers, requested & were given a smoking room, we have to say the whole floor & the room itself positively reeked of stale cigarettes. It was vile. Room was old & in need of work. Many burn holes in carpet & on bedspread. Bed was a playwood box with a matress on it. There was obviously a large party of children directly over our room, so we endured the loud scurrying of many little feet until well after midnight (in fairness, it was obvious the property was entertaining a crowd of children's hockey tournament participants for the night- the children & their parents were all over the place). This property is in desperate need of a reno. It's in a good location & would serve the community well, if it were updated.
