Our family of 4 recently stayed at this Hotel for 5 nights in June. This was probably our 5th stay here. We were somewhat cramped in a narrow oceanfront suite (small living room, kitchenette, main room with 2 queen beds), but since we were mostly at the beach, it didn't really matter! Here's the Good: best location in town with direct beach and boardwalk access, and a few blocks from the main street. The beach is wonderful, and the ocean views from the balcony are superb. The service is also excellent. Whenever we had a minor request, someone would come to our room immediately. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. Beds were very comfortable/firm mattress. There is a very small pool at the hotel- great for little children, but not for teens or adults. The kitchenette was very well stocked, and the bathroom was nice. Here's the Not as Good: the rooms could use a major interior decorating update! Also, there was literally no storage space other than two drawers in the TV armoire. Even the night tables had no shelves or drawers. So we couldn't unpack. Also, the price of the rooms is quite steep in season, without turn-down service or other luxuries. But we love this hotel and will be back!

After looking at the Web site and hearing the room description from the front desk person who took our telephone reservation, we were very excited to spend a romantic weekend at this hotel. We booked a king-bedded room with a whirlpool tub and a balcony with a partial ocean view on the "concierge floor". We arrived at the hotel at around 5:00 P.M. and were greeted by a bit of a line at the front desk. The desk clerk who checked us in was an older gentleman who seemed a little fuzzy on the procedures. We were not offered assistance with our luggage. When we got to our room, the key card didn't open the door. The front desk recoded the keys and sent the bellman to help us open the door. Clearly, the keys had not been coded properly the first time because we were able to open the door on the first try with the new keys. The room was, as some other reviews say, decorated in an over-the-top faux Victorian theme. The bed was comfortable and the room was suppied with a large number of thick pink towels. There were two TV sets (one in the bedroom and one in the sitting room area). The one in the bedroom area was also equipped with a combination VCR/DVD player, BUT, it only received broadcast stations..no cable. The general condition of the room was somewhat worn. Our min-fridge did not work. The bellman was dispatched to check it out and after lying in the middle of our floor searching for a switch, he gave up. The next day, the maintenance man came and replaced the fridge. He explained that it was 12-14 years old like the rest of them in the hotel and that he had a hard time keeping them all running. After reading the menu for the on site restaurant (Victoria's), we decided to give it a try. The menu made it sound like an innovative "foody" kind of place. And the prices were sufficiently high that we had high expectations. What a disappointment!! The appetizers were quite average and somewhat overpriced. The tuna tartare was very odd...a bland mixture of tuna chunks, cucumber pieces, tomoato cubes and some sort of fruit. The sweetness from the fruit just didn't work. The tuna itself was fresh, but the dish was basically flavorless, yet nauseatingly sweet. The scallop appetizer was made from tough frozen scallops and was a salty, greasy mess overall. The "lobseter and crab martini" was OK, though nothing special. Our waiter, Jordan, told us he grew up on the Chesapeake Bay and highly recommended the crab cakes. The crab cakes were nothing special at all. They had a fair amount of bread in them (even though the menu proudly says "no filler") and the jumbo lump crab meat was mixed with a fair amount of stringy canned backfin meat (even though the menu proudly says "lump crabmeat"). So much for truth-in-menu. We also ordered the rockfish. While the crabcakes were not terribly good yet still edible, the rockfish was just this side of spoiled. It was fishy and overcooked. Clearly, we opted to skip dessert. Our bill, with two cocktails, came to $140.00. This is a price we never mind paying for a good meal...$30.00 - $40.00 entrees are the rule not the exception at most good restaurants these days, but this food wasn't worth it at all. To add insult to injury, the next night, we ate at a more casual local resturant (The Summer House) which served much better crab cakes (all jumbo lump crab meat and very very little filler), much fresher fish (tuna and halibut) and had much better service for a total check of $92.00. Overall, the Boardwalk Plaza is a good place to avoid. Our tired $306.00 (low shoulder season pricing) a night room and $140.00 sub-par dinner made us feel used. I can only imagine how I'd feel to have paid high season rates of $500.00+ in another two or three weeks!!! I rely heavily on Trip Advisor reviews when planning my travel. I am a busy corporate lawyer who usually doesn't take the time to write reviews....but I really want to save other readers from having the experience I had this past weekend. Avoid this place!!!

This was our first time in Rehoboth and our stay was wonderful. Even though we had no reservation the front desk was helpful and courteous. We stayed in an ocean front suite that was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We had large, fluffy towels, comfortable beds with exquisite sheets, and a beautiful view. The bar has great happy hour specials. This is now our favorite trip of all time.
