We stayed four days, the last of which I spent in the hotel ill in bed (no fault of theirs!). In general it was a nice place, with the counter staff consistently helpful and friendly. Only a couple of things spoiled it for us, which may or may not matter to you...
The first was the TV in the room, which was advertised as 'cable' but in reality had half a dozen German channels, one French, and CNN (plus ONE pay-per-view film and one pay-per-view porn channel at a price that added insult to injury). We generally enjoy channel-hopping the local tv stations wherever we are, as a major part of exploring the local culture. So this was a major let-down which badly spoiled the experience for us. We felt it amounted to false advertising.
The other may seem more trivial, unless you''re used to enjoying tea with your breakfast, in which case an urn of tepid water for tea bags just doesn't cut it. The breakfasts were mostly okay if you get their early enough, but as late risers we didn't appreciate the waitress's surly response to our polite requests for missing basics. Only on the last day did we work out the answer, which was to use the 24 hour free coffee machine nearby for hot water. (It was advertised as free coffee and cake, but we only once found cake there.)
The location was absolutely fine, but it hardly matters where you stay in Vienna as the public transport is so excellent. People complaining about sleazy clubs nearby give a false impression of the area - it's totally respectable. Germanic countries just have fewer hang-ups than some more repressed nations so you'll find sex-businesses anywhere (even at the airport).
Incidentally, the hotel arranged a taxi to the airport when we left, at an agreed price (37 EUR) to be paid by visa (agreed on the phone) but when we got there the driver asked for 40 as a visa surcharge. It was clearly a con, but we'd been intending to tip him that anyway so didn't make a fuss. But it left a sour last impression.

Just OK

I stayed here with my sister on the 27th and 28th of December. It was priced well, at 75 euro a night.
The location wasn't great, but it was pretty close (about 4 blocks) from the Praterstern stop on the U. Seemed like a seedy part of town though, with strip clubs right outside the door of the hotel.
The room was pretty bland. Beds were comfortable, but the pillows were basically like sleeping without one. Bathroom was small but clean. Shower was very small. Room was very hot so we had to crack the window at night to cool it off at night.
Breakfast was better than I would have expected actually. THere was a selection of meat, cereals, yogury & pastries.
Computer in the lobby with internet was great to have.

Io e mia sorella abbiamo alloggiato all’Hotel Am Augarten il 27 e 28 dicembre.
