Stayed here for 4 nights in June and had a great time. First impressions of hotel from the outside were that it was awful!!! But inside it is lovely - kind of basic but with very comfy beds and very clean. Great buffet breakfast, very quiet at night, no doors slamming or noisy guests. Great location, just off a lovely wide tree-lined main street with shops, restaurants and cafes, many of them with outdoor seating. The hotel street itself also had nice shops and was quiet and safe. Underground station nearby. Only drawbacks were that to get to the elevator you had to go down about ten steps, which was not easy with a heavy suitcase!! Also, the reception staff were not exactly friendly! Would definitely stay here again though.

My companion left her purse on the Underground train. The hotel's staff offered to go to the train station to retrieve it for her once we confirmed that they had it -- wow -- this is really going the extra mile. They were also happy to make her an extra key (big metal type) when she told them the key was lost with the purse. The staff are all young and (mostly--see below) can-do.
The Cosmopolitan is the low end 3-star of the Geisel group of 4 hotels in Munich. It is in the hip and sophisticated area of Scwabing, about 10 minutes by taxi from the historic area and only 2 blocks from the large English Garden.
Rooms were fine for a 3-star and internet free and worked great. Rooms have a walk-out balcony which was really nice since we lucked out and had nice sunny mild weather. They have both courtyard rooms and street-facing rooms -- so you can choose quiet or interesting action. The street they're on is not too busy, so I was streetside and it made for interesting gazing.
Downside -- the carpet in the corridor and on stairs was overly worn. Also, we assumed they'd be able to print a document for us but they said "the printer is down" and were helpless to do anything about it.

The hotel was in a good location in the Schwabing Distict. The metro was about 5 minutes away and the English Garden was fairly nearby. There were plenty of restaurants, bars, gelato shops, etc. on the main road.
The room itself was okay but considering it was about 89 euros a night, it was as good as expected. There was a balcony overlooking the street. With no air in the room, we had to open the windows so it got a bit loud but was not too disturbing. There is only 1 lift/elevator which was not very quick. We took the stairs to the 5th floor several times.
The staff at the front desk was very helpful offering to get information on train schedules for us. They called our room with the information.
The breakfast was fairly standard for an inclusive breakfast. The staff kept the items refilled.
I strongly suggest a bike tour while in Munich. We went to do Mike's Bike Tour and accidentally ended up in the Discover Munich Bike Tour. There is a charge for Mike's which I was more than willing to pay. When we realized we were in the wrong area, it was too late. We did Discover Munich which does not charge but accepts tips. It was very good and we saw the Mike's tour at most of our stops so I think they are similar. Either way, do a bike tour. It is far from strenuous but a great way to see the city.

Actually I looked for the anna hotel which is a centrally located design hotel in Munich. As this hotel was already fully booked (the whole city was packed due to a fair) I discovered the Cosmopolitan as a sister hotel on their homepage.
First of all I was kind of disappointed because the Cosmopolitan is located in another district of Munich, called Schwabing.
However when I arrived i found a lot of shops, bars and restaurants in this area.
The hotel is a real bargain as WiFi is complimentary and breakfast is included in the room rate. I was surprised that the breakfast buffet was still open and was even refilled at 10.30 am. (Quite amazing for 3 stars!)
The staff there is very attentive, friendly and helpfull.
Although I had some doubts in regard to the other rating, I would definitely recommend the Cosmopolitan Hotel and stay there again.

This was our 3rd and our LAST stay at the cosmo. No complaints about the room but definetly about the service. Upon our check in, we had asked someone at the front desk if we can leave a parcel with them for a friend to pick up. They said no problem. Later that day when we went back to the front desk to ask if the parcel was picked up, the staff member looked for it and said, its not here so it was picked up. However, a few days passed, and we had checked out, we found out that the parcel was never picked up. So right away we called the hotel. After several conversations with different staff members, we were able to talk to a manager. To my disbelief, the manager accused of us of being incompetant for not asking for a claim tag. He basically told us that we could be making this story up and that its our fault and how dare I accuse his staff and then hung up the phone. He was ignorant and rude. I would never recommend this place again.
Last thing to say is, if they can steal a parcel of vitamins, who knows what they do in our rooms?
