We were pleasantly surprised with the Amerian hotel. My husband and I had lived in Argentina for a couple of years and compared to where we have stayed before, the Amerian was such a treat! They had free internet in the lobby - which made it extremely convenient to write emails when all the internet cafes in town were closed (siesta!). We also found the front desk attendants to be very friendly and helpful. The room we had orginally booked was occupied, but they made it up to us by giving us a balcony/beach view. It was amazing and we got see some AWESOME sunsets. If you are expecting a modern looking hotel room (like you would find in high price hotel in USA or Europe) you will be disappointed. I did find, however, that they had similar accomadations that were very nice - like robes hanging in the closet, a safe to lock your valueables in your room, plenty of closet space, and seperate sink area from toliet/shower. And they do have a seperate storage place to store your luggage if you can't check in right away or need to check out but can't leave town until later.

The Amerian was a decent hotel for the price. First, we went there during the off-season which meant that many things were not operating, and a little slow, shading our impression of the experience. However the hotel looks like it needs a little bit of a sprucing up. The carpet on our hotel room floor was a little run down and the decor needed a little modernizing. However, the service was good and friendly and the breakfast was good too. If you are looking for simplicity this is the right place for you.

We stayed 5 nights here. We had a top floor suite. We generally only get standard rooms, but the hotel was full (prime season). It had a balcony with a great view of the beach. The room was clean but the furninshings were "kitschy" with lamps that looked like they were from the 1950's. The breakfast was very good and the dining room was bright and open. Front desk personnel varied from cold to friendly, not consistent at all. I would rate this as a 3 star hotel, but you can't beat the location and they have an enclosed parking lot.
