We had a suite on the 20th floor - actually a very spacious one-bed apartment with good views of the city, and side view of harbour from the balcony. It was great to have all that space at the end of a 3-week trip. The lobby was bright and modern, with an inexpensive cafe. We were told our room had been renovated - probably, apart from the shabby bathroom door and the ancient cooker. The hotel is a 15min walk from the waterfront, but opposite the Sheraton Wall Centre where the city buses stop. Very helpful porters too.

We've stayed at the hotel many times in the past, but this time was terrible. Bellmen and restaurant/bar staff are wonderful. That's about it. The rooms are very run down, shower doesn't work properly, bathtub is stained, TV is broken, etc. etc. We booked this months ago and when we checked in we got a room directly over Burrard Street, which is extremely noisy with sirens and homeless people yelling in the middle of the night. The front desk staff were abrupt and rude. Asked for a password to access internet and the clerk said "What, you want it NOW?". Noticed that the checkout date was incorrectly entered on our form, and another clerk said, "This is why you're supposed to read it before you sign it." Then when we checked out they misplaced the receipt faxed to them earlier that indicated it was a prepaid room. I had to spend over half an hour getting it refaxed to them. The desk clerk simply wanted to charge my visa and not deal with it any longer. Seriously, for the same price, you can stay at the Sheraton across the street for much better service and cleaner rooms. We'll never go back.

Excellent value for money, great location
Guest name: AllisonTuck, Wales, UK
Location: Great. About a 10 min walk to the main street packed with shops, bars and restaurants
Room: Good. Massive 'suite' room with 2 kingsized beds, lounge with sofas, kitchen, large well fitted bathroom, tea & coffee, lots of storage. Clean and comfortable but the decor was a little dated. Brilliant views over Vancouver from the 11th floor.
Hotel: Impressive contemporary reception, modern lounge, great bar, nice restaurant serving a decent breakfast. Well equipped spa and relaxing pool. We didn't have time to check out the comedy club but would have liked to. Friendly staff and faultless service.
Overall: Great location, good facilities and impressively large rooms. Little bit dated but excellent value for money. I would definitely stay there again and recommend this hotel.
A strange but pleasant hotel

My husband and I stayed at the Century Plaza after taking an Alaskan cruise. We only stayed for one night. It was very pleasant. The lobby is nice, and the restaurant and bar were very trendy and busy. The room, however, looked a little shabby. The door of the bathroom was cracked and peeling and the hallways were dark and unwelcoming. We had a suite with a little kitchenette, and I think the appliances were older than I am. Also, because we were on a floor with suites, the hallway smelled strongly of food, and you could hear people talking inside their rooms. However, the beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and the view was nice. The location is within walking distance of Robson Street and Yaletown, so it is easy to walk to great restaurants and shopping. I wouldn't want to stay at this hotel for an entire week or anything, but it was great for a short stay.

We stayed at the Century Plaza, along with two other couples, on May 18th. Our rooms were on the 30th floor, very clean, with lovely views of the city. The hotel employees provided excellent service. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast at the hotel. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Compared to other properties in the same area, the cost of this hotel was very reasonable.
