My wife and I came to this hotel as attendees at a conference and booked an executive suite. We arrived late in the evening and were greeted by a very efficient young lady who managed to do a complete check-in in about 3 minutes. We walked away from the desk joking that it was the fastest check-in that we had ever experienced. That was a nice start to what became a perfect hotel stay. Our room was WONDERFUL -- very clean with beautiful decor and a nice comfy four-poster king bed. The executive suite has two bathrooms which was major convenience and helped expedite us getting ready in the morning. Lots and lots of space for us to spread out with our laptop computers. Also, my wife neglected to bring a LAN cable to connect to their free high-speed internet service and they offered to bring one up to the room -- at 1 a.m.!! Now that's service. Also, they don't nickel and dime you (like a lot of other places) for little conveniences and provide free bottled water in your fridge and in the gym. The conference areas are just beautiful with glass atria and lots of trees indoors - beautifully landscaped and peaceful. The restaurants on the premises are top notch. I find it hard to believe some of the negative comments posted about this place. It really was a five star stay and I would never hesitate to return.

I went to a conference that took place at The Desmond Albany. I found the hotel to be very nice and cozy inside. The staff were very personable and professional. The hotel itself is beautiful. My room had two doors, one in the hallway and one that opened up to one of the inside courtyards. I loved it!! The food was consistently good as well. If I'm ever in the Albany area again, I will definitely stay at The Desmond Albany.

The hotel is interesting for an airport-centered hotel, but the surfaces are scarred, the carpets dirty, and everything is worn. It is better than most chain hotel experiences, but certainly nothing special.

We attended our neices wedding and decided to stay overnight to avoid making the 3 hour drive home to Monmouth County, NJ. The hotel was clean, the employees very helpful and the amenities were great, ie the pool and excercise room. Our room had two doors. One leading tp the interior coridoor and the other to the court yard. The food at the reception was Ok. Although, it is difficult to prepare immpeccable food for over 150 guests. The breakfast and Simpsons was very good and the prices were reasonable. The indoor courtyard of the building is what we enjoyed the most. I would reccomend staying at this property

A number of years ago when I was a student at Siena College, the Desmond was the premiere hotel for parents' weekend and graduation. Now, it's a mere shadow of itself. The rooms are dingy and in desperate need of updating. But more horrifying is the utter lack of housekeeping. Our room had BLOOD on the back of the bathroom door. Additionally, we had to have our bed sheets changed TWICE because they weren't clean. I'm not talking just old stains that don't come out. Instead, it was gross crusty stuff not removed. I would strongly advice against staying here. It's now far too overpriced for what you are getting. Shame on management for letting this former gem get this way
