CLOSED!! Hotel Has Legionnaire's Disease

On June 8th Cortina Inn Hotel management complained on this site that any and all customer reviews were wrong, yet on June 18th the hotel closed apparently for good due to the fact that Legionnaire's Disease was found to be in the hotel water and ventillation system. This is the very complaint that those customers had about the hotel - that the ventillation and water systems were either bad or shut off completely during their stay.
What's totally amazing to this reviewer is the fact that the hotel was allowed to be reopened after their April 2008 closing due to Legionnaire's Disease being traced to the property. The hotel was closed during that time for a total of 6 weeks. Why they were allowed to reopen remains a mystery.

Apparently this place has been closed by the Health Department again, and they didn't even cancel our reservation. We showed up only to find an empty parking lot and a CLOSED sign on the door. No message on their website; no one picking up the phone; and still accepting reservations on their website and via Expedia. Totally ridiculous... we got Expedia to cover our stay at a new place instead.

We arrived and stayed for a weekend stay. There is no General manager on the property but we had a chance to speak on a regular basis with Michael the Director. He and his staff were excellant. It is true the rooms need some updating but over all we enjoyed our stay emensely.
Breakfast was great!

Dreadful, run down, dirty
Guest name: sfpSomerset, Somerset
We stayed there in December on a ski holiday. We were aprehensive after reading many negative reviews and it turned out they were all true. The rooms are outdated, dirty, taps hanging off the wall, stained mattresses and every morning our freshly cooked breakfast was cold. The swimming pool was filthy, equiment in the gym wasn't working, lift out of order and the corridor smelt of drugs. Please do not even contemplate it. We are currently seeking compensation from the tour operator.
Time to close

Just returned from the Cortina. A nightmare
We checked in on Tues. 6/17/08 and were told on Wed. 6/18/08 that we would have to leave because the Hotels water supply "remained to be contaminated" with the bacteria that causes Legionairres disease. This is the second time within an 8 week period I believe. You can go to the Vt. dept. of healths website for the exact info. I was not aware of the first closing otherwise I certainly would not have booked. The disturbing aspect of the situation is the letter we as guests received on Wed. indicating that the Inn was notified on Tues, that the ploblem still existed yet continued to receive guests.Complete irresponsibility on all parties involved.
Obviously the only concern here is the almighty dollar and not the health and safety of their guests
