The size of the suites really are amazing, I've seen many apartments smaller than this.
The location is pretty good as well, a 10 minute walk or so to all the down town sites.
The attached restaurant was grand. Nothing too fancy but nothing too fancy was expected at the prices.
Overall an excellent experience!

We were very happy with the Albert at Bay suite. The rooms are huge and the full kitchen is a nice addition.
The master bed was very comfortable and the staff were friendly.
The adjoining restaurant (Baystreet Bistro) was not good...might be good for a beer/wine/pub grub, but do not order the lunch buffet-it was just plain "YUK" x 4.

We managed to bag a queen suite each (travelling on business) at the last minute for a real bargain and after seeing this hotel at number 1 on Trip Advisor, we were over the moon, as previous experiences from trip advisor top hotels have been great and I use it religiously.
On the first night we had to stay in the Ramada Plaza Manoir Casino, which I must admit was clean, huge rooms, quiet, terrible location, great pub, breakfast was superb.
Then we moved to the Albert at Bay...mmm - outside looked like a bronx tower block.
Got in, reception staff very friendly. We had our bags checked in by a colleague, when we came to check in a few hours later, they had no recollection of this . checked their notes, couldn't find any etc etc, half hour later and we had to advise them that 'perhaps our bags are in the luggage lock up are'...which they were...
They were doing some work with the lifts, so can't really hold them to the fact the lifts took about ten minutes to turn up.
The room was enormous, two bathrooms, lounge, diner, kitchen and the balcony was like something out of a war torn country. Furniture and bed/general decor was great.
Bad bits were:
- Internet was pathetic, incredibly slow and unusuable
- Television in the bedroom had an intermittent fault that was pretty annoying
- Half the plug sockets didn't work
- Iron stopped working on the second day
Good bits:
Big room
clean furniture
regularly cleaned
friendly staff
Location was OK, but pretty pants compared to Lord Elgin that looked far superior and Capital Hill Suites are btter location, along with the Sheraton and a few others, allseemed to be 5/6 blocks futher in to the main bit of the city.
Overall not bad, but probably wouldn't go again unless I was looking for a hotel room that I could comfortably fit in about 10 people. I personally preferred the room at the Ramada Plaza (apart from possibly the worst location for a hotel I have ever seen, appears to be on some kind of retail/industrial estate, 7km from town!)

Positives:
The housekeeping staff is fabulous. This is quite possibly the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in. The suites are quite spacious and well-appointed. The free summer kid's club is spectacular.
Negatives:
The construction (only one of three elevators is currently operational, which means 20 minute waits if you are on the eleventh floor). The front desk staff. The front desk is short of staff, and after you have waited in line forever, they are rude. Long story short, we received a full refund for our two night stay--enough said!

I am writing this from the Albert sitting in the cool office and on the very fast WiFi provided.
I find this hotel clean, cool in this humid weather and extremely well situated in Ottawa. The parking is underground and seems very secure. I picked this hotel after reading Trip Advisor reviews and it lives up to the review and to my expectations. Lovely bed with ample pillows, 2 bathrooms, fairly well equipped kitchenette, a decent sized sitting room with table and 2 chairs and this lovely office. Friendly staff and as of today updated elevators. Better than any chain hotel at which I have stayed.
