Went to the Sault last September with a family member to see the colours and, having stayed at this hotel previously, booked in there.
Others may enjoy the spa and pool but, for me, after a day on the train in the fresh air, nothing was as relaxing as the bar with its superb martinis - vodka of course.
We stayed in one of the renovated rooms that are definitely worth looking at and we found the staff courteous and pleasant, not only at the front desk but in the hallways when we couldn't find the computer centre. And, when I couldn't get the computer to do what I wanted, friendly assistance was just around the corner.
Enjoy all the hotel's amenities but don't miss the martinis!

I was picked up at the airport for a great getaway. I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions and found that the staff were professional, friendly and very helpful. The rooms were comfortable and I slept like a baby. Great hotel for business and pleasure. I am making plans to stay at the hotel again this fall and take the train to see the fall colours. A picky traveler from Toronto.

Arrived at the hotel and we were greeted by friendly staff at the front. We had reserved a family suite and after we looked at it our kids decided they wanted their own room so we went back and tried to change the suite to two rooms. Part of the problem is that the family suite was right by the elevator so it would have been quite noisy.
The staff could not have been more helpful. They took a coulple of minutes to find us adjoining rooms but were sucessful. We then went to our new rooms. The rooms were adequate, interior is dated and the rooms were dark, the beds were OK, not great but OK for one night.
The pool was a welcome sight and very nice atmosphere.
We asked the front desk for a dinner suggestion and they were very helpful again (different staff) and gave an amazing recommendation.
GIven that you never know what you will get in Northern Ontario, we would most likely stay here again.

Like a lot of the other reviewers I found this place to be very expensive. I booked for one rate and got a higher rate when arrived. The front desk staff gave you the feeling that they were looking down on you. I had just gotten out of car after 6 hours with two small children and didn't look my best and they made me realize it. The pool there was nice but the staff didn't even say hello to you when you arrived. When you asked a question they looked at you "Don't you know why are you bugging me" The restaurant on site was
very, very expensive. 15 dollars for an order of chicken fingers. Come on. Not only would I never stay there again I would tell you never to stay there either.

I recently stayed at Algoma's Water Tower Inn, in Sault Ste. Marie for several nights on business. I travel frequently for work (mostly in large city centres in 4+star hotels) and was reluctant to find out that a trip north was in store for me.....I'll admit I'm a bit of a hotel snob/diva, and the thoughts of staying at a non-branded hotel was a little frightening.
I'm happy to tell you this hotel absolutely exceeded my expectations. They have recently renovated several of their guestrooms - triple sheets, duvet, flat screen TV. Plus they have the friendliest staff that are very accommodating and eager to assist. The lobby is so cozy and welcoming, they even have a woodburning fireplace in the lobby!!!
The fitness centre offers all the standard equipment + there's a GoodLife right across the street. They offer comp passees to the gym for those die-hards that need their workout fix while away. The pool was like nothing I've ever experienced before - they actually use a water purification system (no smelly chlorine) and have a year-round outdoor whirlpool....bring your swimsuit!
In closing this hotel ROCKS!!!! Seeing is believing and believe me once you see this place, you too will agree that it's the best place in Sault Ste. Marie!!!!!
