I helped my daughter get a contract at this hotel for her wedding guests rooms but they are not opening up in time for her June wedding because of construction problems. We had been speaking to a nice woman in the sales office but she isn't there anymore so the hotels general manager called us and explained he had to move us. These people have another hotel close to this one, Ambassador East, but it's nothing like this hotel is suppossed to be but that's where they moved all of our rooms. The guy was very apologetic about the problem and was kind in explaining the problem but his solution he could offer was to put our rooms at this other hotel they own. I looked at this other hotel on line and it's not the style of hotel we wanted to put our relatives at. The write ups are good, so i hope our guests think so too. I know it's not this guys fault and he reallydid put himself in our shoes but why would you take a contract for such an important event if you knew you were "possibly" not going to be open. To make things even more difficult for our guests who are expecting a brand new hotel and to have the wedding reception across the street, they are now expected to get from this new other hotel to the reception on there own. He never said that but implied that within our conversation. In the end I put my foot down and told him I expected him to pay for our guests transportation to and from the wedding and he agreed he would. How many other weddings have they moved elsewhere, I wonder. Professional, kind and friendly everyone I have had to deal with thus far have been, really though it's bad them to start this way. When June rolls around and the wedding is over I know we'll bring all this up but for now I'm counting on this manager from their other hotel to not dissapoint my daughter, me and our relatives. I was in Chicago last summer to see a concert at a nearby venue, so I was only there for one night. What I wanted in a hotel was a place very close to the venue, fairly clean and safe, and reasonably inexpensive (given the location). The Gold Coast delivered on all counts. It's not a luxury hotel, but you're not paying for a luxury hotel either. The room was small but functional -- meaning everything I cared about worked (ac, lights, everything in the bathroom). A couple of people I know who also stayed there for the concert found their rooms noisy, but I didn't have any noise problems at all. My room was in the back while theirs were towards the street, so I that might have been part of the reason for the difference there.

Die Gold Coast entsprach voll und ganz unseren Erwartungen. Wir wollten an einem sauberen Ort in der Nähe des Zentrums übernachten und weniger als 100 Piepen dafür bezahlen. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Zimmer war sauber und geräumig, genau wie das Bad. In dieser Preisklasse kann man natürlich nichts Besonderes in Chicago erwarten. Allerdings sind sie innerhalb einer halben Stunde auf der Magnificient Mile. Die Angestellten an der Rezeption waren leicht reserviert. Alles in allem, sehr zu empfehlen!

Le Gold Coast a répondu à toutes nos attentes. Nous voulions séjourner dans un hôtel à proximité du centre ville pour une nuit ou deux dans une chambre en-dessous de 100$ la nuit. Et nous n’avons pas été déçus. Notre chambre était très propre et spacieuse, tout comme la salle de bain. Elle était simple, ce qui est normal à Chicago pour ce prix là. Mais le Magnificient Mile est à une demi-heure de marche. En revanche, le personnel de la réception était un peu réservé. Dans l’ensemble, il est très recommandable !

The Gold Coast did entirely meet all our expectations. We intended to stay at a clean place close to downtown for a night or two below 100 bucks for the room. We were not disappointed: The room was clean and spacious as was the bathroom. No frills - of course - in that price range in Chicago. But you are on Magnificient Mile in a half hour walk. Staff at front desk was a bit reserved. Over all, very recommendable!
