My wife and I and our 5 year old son stayed here during the first week of June and had a terrific time. Thank you to the everyone who has posted here previously with your tips which guided us to the best spots.
We stayed in a 600 series garden room facing the golf course which was quiet and spacious (sleeps 4) and as well appointed as any 4 to 41/2 star hotel.
We love tennis and golf (which the resort has) but were too busy boating and snorkelling and seeing the island in the local Minibuses to do either sport during the week.
My main tips:
- Do not get the all inclusive. Instead eat at the wild ginger (very very nice) or some of the restaurants in town such as the Waterfront or Tilleys or the unusual French restaurant (opposite the Big Supermarket on the raod to the resort) where they worked out the constitution for vanuatu 30 years ago.
- The Au Bon Marche supermarket has everything you could possibly need. Cannot buy alcohol there between noon on Saturday and Monday Morning.
- We found very good spots for snorkelling (or walking at low tide) on both sides of Erakor island, especially closer to the mouth of the lagoon and the far side. Just paddled over in a canoe from the resort and used La Lagon's snorkel and flippers (fine).
- Join the "Warwick Club" before you go which will get you a free T-shirt and a room upgrade (if available).
- The young trendy expats all go for happy hour on friday nights at the Hemisphere lounge at the top of the Sebel. The older long term expats seem to still hang out at the Waterfront.
- On the security matters, the security guards were always telling us to take in our clothes from the verandah and at night they would close (and lock) our front door which I had left open for the breeze.
- Check all your flyscreens. You can adjust them to make sure you keep the Mozzies out.
We all had a wonderful time, and compared to the Sebel and the Meridian, the Le Lagon is much nicer.
Enjoy.

The stay at Le Lagon was a family trip - myself, my husband and our 3 year old son.
We found the public areas of the hotel - swimming pools, grounds and reception/restaurant buildings to be of a very high standard. In fact, they were beautiful.
The rooms (we had a Garden Superior, but saw others) were disappointing. For a property on such a large expanse of land it seems crazy to have such cramped rooms. Our room was decidedly in need of a makeover, as were others we saw. There was nothing actually wrong with the room - it was just too spartan and lacking in style for this grade of hotel.
We were on a bed and breakfast deal with a couple of dinners thrown in. The breakfasts were very good, but food in the evening and at the pool bar during the day was woeful. No imagination, poor quality ingredients. For guest who weren't on the all-inclusive deal the prices were also very steep - 1400 VT for a very mediocre chicken burger and chips. Much of the food was out of the freezer/jars etc.
Our son used the kids' club a few times. It appeared to be well-run with plenty of activities. There were trips out of the hotel, tee-shirt painting, jewellery making and sports. The people in charge appeared mature, competent and caring.
We had some issues with the hotel reception staff. The first was that on arrival we should have been issued with vouchers for dinners and beach massages. These were not available when we checked in, and it took several visits to reception to obtain them. The staff appeared to think that this was all a big, tedious problem and their attitude was not helpful. The second problem concerned our room. We noticed that there was a sound of running water from the empty room above. We reported this, but had great difficulty making ourselves understood. The problem was only fixed when we waylaid a member of staff with a key, accessed the room and fixed the problem ourselves.
Staff in restaurants and shops in Port Vila spoke very good English, so it was curious that the standard of English at the hotel reception was so poor.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay but feel that it could have been better.
