The Westin was lovely. We went a day before the Calgary Stampede started, and it was fun to see all staff dressed in cowboy gear. The service was excellent, as were the rooms. They were spacious and luxurious. They had given a selection of complimentary Tazo teas and Starbucks coffee with the coffee maker. They even had complimentary Iced Tea kept in the lobby (although it was only there in the evening). The receptionist suggested this superb Chinese restaurant to us in Chinatown-The Silver Dragon (best Chinese we ever had).
The location is also good-close to many restaurants, Chinatown, as well as shopping areas. We didn’t sightsee much since we were in Calgary for only one night.
The only bad thing was that parking (25$ a day), internet and breakfast were too expensive, but there is a Starbucks, as well as, a Keg Steakhouse in the hotel.

We were very pleased overall with ths hotel, the staff were very helpfull, the rooms were a good size with one of the biggest most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. We also found the location in the heart of downtown very convenient, for shops and restaurants etc.

Used this hotel as our "base" during a recent two-week visit back "home" to Alberta in early July.
Check-In/Check-Out:
Check-In was uneventful and was able to change my reservation from a "corner suite" with a queen murphy bed, to one with a king. (Although I was curious what it would be like with one of those; I decided the King would be better).
Check-Out was a little different as the bill was fine, but there were only two girls trying to handle about 9 people at once which stalled things incredibly. Also, there was about 200 people celebrating something stampedey coming from somewhere inside the hotel in a constant stream. They were drunk and shouting as they left. It didn't bother me much as I was in the spirit but some of the other customers were visibly irked.
Room:
The room was decent. Although not a suite in the proper sense as it was just one large room. The room was indeed spacious, the bed super comfy, the shower powerful, and the furniture decent. The hotel is showing it's age a little so the planned reno's are welcome news. When we arrived we had this medium sized 1980's style colour TV in our room but about halfway through the TV was replaced with a big flat screen so I guess the initial reno's are underway. As mentioned in the earlier post; there is construction next door. We happened to be right on the corner where this was taking place and our balcony, (11th floor) was level with the progress of construction. That being said neither I or my gf really noticed it at all.
Location:
If you're wanting to stay in the downtown I'd argue this is right up there with the best. It's one of the few hotel's that is completely connected to the +15, so it's an extremely simple walk over to Eaton center/TD square/Stephen Avenue Mall. It's also simple to get to for people not familiar with Calgary as you turn off Deerfoot and essentially take 4th all the way and "poof" it's on your right. The one drawback is that behind the hotel is Eau Claire Market, which is not a bad thing but for anyone who knows Calgary; this is the area where certain ladies ply their trade. We found it entertaining to scope out what clothing, (or lack of), they would come up with each night as we drove around to the parkade, but some may find it not cool.
Service:
During our two-week stay, (although we did spend a number of days in other cities), our interaction with any staff was minimal, which is fine since we just wanted a base/home and didn't need someone waiting on us. The initial interaction with the valet at the front and the front desk clerks was great as everyone was superfriendly and went out of their way to try and be informative. All of the info of course surrounded stampede though so it would be interesting if they were like this regularly.
Overall:
For business in Calgary this would be a great hotel, and certainly for a visit it is not that bad either. I would probably stay here again if I got a better rate as it wasn't cheap, ($5500 for 13 night, incl. room, parking, internet. No food).

The Calgary Westin is a nice, clean and centrally located hotel in the downtown Calgary area. A taxi from the airport would run you about $35 (US/CAN), and weekend parking is $19/night, $25/weekday.
We had a junior suite, away from the elevator. the room was spacious and had a balcony which was nice for evening vistas. Pricing was excellent, as we had a pay for 2, get 3rd night free deal, even during the Stampede! (July 4-13th)
The check in process was smooth and simple. All staff were very friendly and responsive. (but then again I hear Calgarians are friendly in general).
The hotel will undergo indoor renovations and updating, which is nice. The Bathroom, although clean, did smell a bit moldy, but not enough to really complain.
Only real complaint that had nothing to do with the hotel was that Calgary is undergoing some major new construction, and unfortunately, they were building a new skyscraper next door to the Westin! Who knew that they would be working on a Saturday and starting at 7am? Oh well, more reason to get out of the hotel.
Good swimming pool and fitness center too, but it was great to get out for a run. Calgary is an easy city to navigate, based on a large grid.
Overall good experience and value at the Westin!

I stayed at The Westin for a week at the beginning of June and found it to be a very nice hotel with very friendly staff.
From my buffet breakfast in the morning to my visits to the Keg Steakhouse and Bar in the evening, it was a great place to stay.
I stayed in a nice room on the 7th floor with a king size bed.
As the room was next to the elevator there was a little noise, but when checking-in I was asked what sort of room I wanted and that was the one that I chose.
As mentioned in previous posts the Westin is very handy for all the shopping areas, and with the covered walkways linking up the buildings you don't even have to go outside.
I'd definitely stay at The Westin again on my next visit to Calgary.
