Having read the reviews for this spa and recommended to it by a friend maybe my expectations were too high.
Lets start with the plus side. The 2 Michelin Star Restaurant is amazing. We started with a mushroom risotto which was the best risotto we have ever tasted. The sea bass for main course was lovely although somewhat bland, the chicken was much tastier. The tiramisu was perfection.
We were upgraded to an Atrium Suite which was gorgeous - clean and modern.
Spa - This was the main reason for the overnight stay. The spa is extremely disappointing and I felt compelled to write this review to prevent future disappointment. The spa consists of one pool which was too cold to relax in and one Jacuzzi which overlooked the car park...not quite the romantic setting we hoped for. There are treatment rooms but we didn't have a massage or the like so I cannot comment on that front.
The spa has been recently modernised and we both felt that the hotel could have done more for the price that they charged. The floor has recently been carpeted which is fantastic at the moment but I can only guess that it won't be so hygienic after some wear and tear.
The only other complaint was the temperature - the atmosphere was humid and hot a little like sitting in a hot sauna, in fact a couple even tried sitting outside and lets just say this bank holiday wasn't the warmest to say the least!
With just 10 sun loungers (with no cushions) one can see why there wasn't a fight to get one!
One other thing...if the weather is beautiful and you are still thinking of going to the Vineyard don't go in the summer unless you play golf...there are no spa facilities bar a table and chair outside!!!
If you live locally definitely visit the restaurant but if you are going for the spa try somewhere else.

We had a wonderful Friday evening. Everything from start to finish was great. The staff were attentive and made us feel at home all the way through.
This was a new experience for us as we chose the taster menu and asked the sommelier to choose appropriate wines. We hoped for something to remember and were not disappointed. The many courses were beautifully cooked and presented with brief explanations of what we were about to eat. The rabbit ravioli and pumpkin sauce comes to mind, but each course was a manageable portion of the most amazing flavours. There were even different home made breads to accompany each course. Same too with the wines as they appeared at appropriate times and their origins were explained and they did indeed complement the food nicely. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and after the digestif and homemade bergamot chocolates we were very pleased to retire to our comfortable bed.

We have just returned from the Vineyard on a two night stay for my partners birthday. We mainly visted the hotel for the food but the whole experience was amazing. I had told the hotel it was my partners birthday when i booked (maybe three months ago) and this was obviously flagged up - we were treated like VIPs. All the staff were lovely, we were very surprised to read the negative reviews but as one person has already suggested - perhaps you get back what you give!
We had a Luxury Double which was just heaven. Stylishy decorated with an amazing bathroom! The rest of the hotel was stunning with the walls covered in works of art.
The spa was closed but the treatments we had were a lovely start to the weekend and the spa at Donnington Valley was well used by us!
We had the 10 course Taster Menu on the second night which was out of this world. Special thanks goes to Michael the Restaurant Manager who treated us like old friends the minute we walked through the door with recommendations of what to choose and how to last the 10 course!.
We are already planning our next visit back and cant wait!

We had a two night stay here for our honeymoon a few weeks back and all I can say is superb. We took advantage of the Easter special and got the classic suite half price which was wonderful we had two toilets a nice Bathroom and two great sized rooms both with nice TV’s the place was spotless and with the added bonus of a complementary mini bar which was a great touch. The service was 5* but with out any portentousness from the staff.
We ate in the restaurant on our second night and were greeted warmly and by name which was nice as I booked the table with the room booking so didn’t introduce myself their attention to detail was excellent. After having a very pleasant pre dinner drink we were shown to our table. They had saved us the best table in the restaurant which I think they called the sky room. It was wonderful like a private box at the theatre looking out over the rest of the dinners and with two very comfortable throne chairs it was just wonderful if you eat here and it’s a romantic occasion ask for this table you will not be disappointed.
We chose the 10 course taster menu having eaten at Petrus and the Waterside within the last few months all I can say is The Vineyard blows them away. The wine list is extensive but unlike some restaurants has about 5 pages exclusively for bottles under ?25 we had two bottle of great Kiwi Sauvignon from this section. The maitre 'd was wonderful he was charming and friendly and even got us a complementary personalised signed book from John Campbell as it was our honeymoon.
The best hotel I have ever stayed and the best food I have eaten. I will be back soon and for every anniversary going forward and can’t wait to sample John Campbell’s new creations if they can keep him that is as he would blow the London crowd away.

We stayed for our wedding anniversary and everything was awful. Room not ready as they wanted to show a couple round - even though our belongings were in there. Had the tasting menu at dinner and we walked out after 3 hours as we were still only half way through and the food was luke warm at best. At checkout they had credited us with ?68 as a good will gesture for food not taken but then had charged us ?150 for spa treatments we didn't have. All in all a joke would never recommend this hotel to anyone and as we were paying for their ultimate package it was an insult. Le Manoir is not too far away and is a million times better.
