Stylish Sofitel

The Sofitel Galaxy Nanjing, like most Sofitel in Asia is decorated and furnished with style, in a way that makes guests feel comfortable.
We stayed for a week in February 2008 in one of the suites. The room was immense, very functional and tastefuly decorated, and had breathtaking views over the city skyline.
The hotel has several restaurants which are probably the best in Nanjing. The buffet is fantastic for fine food lovers, with even caviar and foie gras available at the Sunday brunch.
The gym has extensive facilities and a vast swimming pool, which is very welcome after a day in dusty Nanjing.
The location of the hotel in downtown Nanjing is perfect, with and large shopping center around the corner.
In terms of service, facilities and quality of the rooms, this hotel is one step ahead of most hotels I stayed in around China.

I actually stayed in this hotel for about 7 months straight & could have easily stayed longer. The service is excellent, and not just in the normal way, but it feels like the staff really care about their role, the presentation, how the customer feels and perceives the hotel.
The rooms are clean, spacious & very well equipped. The beds are the best I have ever slept in and the bathrooms are airy, well decorated, great facilities.
The choice of restaurants is more than enough and the lobby bar is a nice cool area to wait for friends or have a realxing drink.
The location is perfect for over a hundred restaurants within 5 mins walking and a big shopping area.
If you are coming to Nanjing and want to stay in a classy hotel, then this is the place for you. Modern and reasonably priced this hotel is just easy to be in!

This hotel has fantastic service and amazing rooms : large, spacious, clean and modern. I couldn t go anywhere else when staying in Nanjin. Moreover, the Spa and the swimming pool are really enjoyable.
And I shall not forget the food, which is delicious.

Apart from a rather icy reception upon check-in, we had a great stay at this hotel. Our initial impressions were not good due to the manner of the male that attended to us behind the counter (very short/gruff/disinterested), but we soon found that this staff member was an exception. All of the other staff were highly professional and obliging. Our roon was very large and clean. The bathroom was massive but I was not impressed by the glass door next to the toilet! The lobby/bars/restaurants/pool and other amenities were terrific. The dinner AND breakfast buffets were both well done - but like another writer mentioned - the seats were peculiar and not particularly comfortable! This hotel aims to be ultra contemporary and does so successfully - but they must remember that comfort is the number one priority in interior design! The location isn't brilliant if you are looking for a decent cup of coffee! We had to catch a taxi (about 15 mins drive) to get to the nearest Starbucks! In fact the location was not particularly central to the heart of town but was still great value for money and very comfortalble. I would definitely stay there again in the future - provided that Mr Surly doesn't greet me at the front desk again. Most off putting (especially after a long journey - and especially due to the fact that we were going there for a family holiday - not a business trip).
