We had a very pleasant weekend staying at this excellent hotel in Aachen. Our room - for which we paid under ?100 a night - was spacious and airy. Staff were extremely friendly. Large comfortable lounges were well-stocked with international papers. Spa was modern and spacious, with the alternative Carolus Thermen a short walk away. Breakfasts were good, if a little pricy at ?21 each, but enjoyed on the marvellous terrace overlooking the park. The hotel is about 20 min walk from the centre, but its proximity to the park is good compensation.

We've been lucky to stay in some wonderful hotels over the years but I think this one takes top spot. Even compared to other Sofitel's this one is a goodun!
From the outside, the hotel is just so impressive. In true German fashion, the whole building is immaculate.
The rooms are huge with Queen-size beds and a range of plush furnishings. The ensuite bathrooms are equally large with quality toiletries. Ask for a room which overlooks the adjoining park - the views in Spring are stunning.
The wellness centre is fantastic with a swimming pool to die for. There is a steam room and two saunas here also.
If you do opt for a cheaper room tariff where breakfast is not included, be aware that breakfast here is 21 Euros per person.
Parking here is 16 Euros a day in the underground car park. With drop down shutters, your car will be very secure.
Do I have any criticisms? Not really. You could argue that the hotel is too far away from the city centre I suppose. About a 15 min walk. Apart from that, this is a great place for a romantic weekend away. Expect to pay about ?150 inc breakfast per night over a weekend stay. Enjoy!

The quality of this hotel is right up there with the very best. All the staff are multi lingual, they all speak German, English, French and Dutch to a fluent level and it wouldn't surprise me if they also speak Cantonese ! Even the housekeeping staff speak fluent English. All the staff are a credit to their employers and I hope they are well rewarded for their superb service levels. Everything about this hotel is excellent. You should really have the hotel breakfast, it is well worth it. We spent five days there and I wish it could have been longer. We will definitely be returning to the Quellenhof, Aachen which is probably the best run hotel in this corner of Europe.

The Hotel is really nice, rooms are big enough and the bathroom is very nice. Breakfast is also good. Staff is really friendly, and
you can see that the Germans know how to treat their guests.
Its a 10 minute walk to the old center of town. Take a map and do not make the same mistake we did. We left with out the map and we came to the ugly part of town. After a long walk we found the old center. Al the people we meet in a cafe or restaurants gave us service as it should be. As for us being Dutch the prices of eating out and quality of food for is us is considered a bargain. Eating out in Holland is much more expensive and the quality not so good as in Germany. So we had a good time. Aachen should not be seen as a shoppers paradise but for a short stay, quite nice.
