Had a nice weekend in Cagliari with this hotel as a base. Its location is ideal for exploring the city and its only a few meters away from the old fortress. Its a pretty steep walk, but a lovely place to view the entire city. Plenty of restaurants and shopping near by. I notice some old reviews say its worn down, but they must have recently refurbished because the room we had on the second floor was very chic and clearly brand new. Room size are normal and designed for either business travelers or couples without kids. The bathroom however was large and fitted with a very nice shower. Breakfast was standard, but had all you needed. Nothing grand. The hotel also offers free parking something you will really appreciate until you have tried to find a parking spot in the city... An overall good place that I have no problem on recommending.

Ho soggiornato al Margherita alla fine di maggio del 2007. Il personale era molto gentile e mi ha aiutato davvero a ritrovare i miei bagagli (che erano stati persi tra Roma e Cagliari). Un altro punto a favore dell'hotel è la posizione (vicino al centro storico e al porto). Le camere non sono niente di speciale, un po' buie (almeno la mia lo era). Cercate di evitare quelle che danno sulla strada principale, perché di notte c'è parecchio traffico.

I stayed at the Margherita at the end of May 2007. The staff of the hotel was very friendly and helped me a great deal in finding my luggage (which got lost between Rome and Cagliari). Another strong point of the hotel is its location (close to the historical center and the harbour). The rooms are nothing special and a bit dark (at least mine). Try to avoid the ones in front of the street as there was a lot of traffic at night.

L'hotel si trova in una posizione fantastica ma era un po' una delusione in quanto era molto datato. Le camere erano pulite e avevamo una bellissima vista del porto. Il parcheggio auto gratuito era un vantaggio. Ho sicuramente pagato per la sua ubicazione, anche se questo non è un quattro stelle per gli standard britannici.

The hotel was in a superb location but was let down by being very dated. The rooms were clean and we had a great view of the port. The free carpark was a bonus. Definately paid for the location though as this is not a four star by UK standards.
