We stayed two nights in the hotel. The hotel is in desperate need of updating. The carpet and wallpaper was filthy, so bring slippers. The location is great. It is easy to reach all major sights and very convenient to the train station. We felt very cozy in the rooms and the staff was helpful. A two night stay was fine, had it been longer I don't know. Hotel Rex should spend a little money on paint and carpet because it could be a quaint hotel!

This hotel was a great find. It is a typical older European hotel, meaning it is not perfect. But it was easy to find, centrally located to all major sites and trains, clean and accomodating. This hotel is old, the walls do need a fresh papering (the floors in our back corner room were tiled), but if you are looking for an affordable place to stay, consider this hotel. Although many of the previous reviews were negative, and I was apprehensive, I have no serious complaints. The worse thing I can say is that the tub was small and the bathroom light/fan buzzed annoyingly.

Hotel pessimo. Ho alloggiato per 4 notti nel mese di febbraio. Mi è stata data una stanza singola piccola, buia, dalla finestra al muro di fronte c'erano circa 50 metri e tutto sporco di escrementi di piccione. La camera aveva la moquette sporca. L'unica cosa pulita era il bagno. Buona la colazione. Ottima la posizione, in centro a circa 5 minuti dal duomo e a circa 5 minuti dalla stazione.

I would like to meet the reviewer who gave this hotel a 3 star rating. Comparing this to other 3 star hotels, 1-2 stars should be removed. A very tired hotel that needs major upgrading. The furniture had seen better days, the carpet needed changing not cleaning. The photos of the hotel looked good but they were misleading. The staff were okay but they can only work with what they got. It was "centrally located" and that was good because but you would not want to spend much time in your room. Florence is a beautiful city but the hotel put a sour note to our holiday time.

Location was great, close to the train station, street market, restaurants, attractions and even close to our tour CAF travel office. However, the room was quite dirty and the carpet had stains on them. Also, under the floor carpet there were peices of garbage. The shower curtain did not close all the way down so water got everywhere onto the bathroom floor. The hoilet was also inside the shower part so we had to wipe everything down after using the shower so that the next person could use the toilet without getting all wet. The wall paper on the wall was peeling off and the room was very dusty. The TV in our room did not work at all. We had ask for a different room the next day because we could not stand the room. The receptionist spoke well english and was very friendly and helpful. Overall this hotel was in a central location but the rooms were run down. Breakfast was alright, mainly consisted of fruit and cereal.
