Well, this was a great experience. Great breakfast, and my room had that retro 1986 decor that brought me back to when I was a Ph.D. student in Gainesville. I was here for a meeting, and I could not have picked a better spot to stay all around. It was a great deal, also. Try it, you'll like it!

Stayed 4 nights at Cabot Lodge. Here are the "pluses": Near restaurants, the U of FL and right off I-75. There's even a Target right next door! Great lobby with nice manager's cocktail reception nightly, even on weekends with popcorn to boot! The hotel messed up our reservation 3 times but the staff was friendly and quickly remedied the incorrect dates/number of days. The free breakfast was good, nothing hot like eggs & bacon but lots of fresh fruits, cereal, bagels, microwavable breakfast sandwiches, juices etc. and even Krispy Kreme Donuts. Wi-Fi worked in rooms!! My only complaint was the cleanliness of the rooms was about a C+, I saw the vacuums of the housekeepers and they were uprights with no attachments. That may account for the crumbs and stuff between the night stand & bed, dresser & wall, fridge & wall etc. So, I think I will give them another try since everything else was good. Fridge & microwave come in the deluxe rooms only not the regular rooms.

This ia a great hotel. It is a little older but very clean. The rooms and lobby were clean and not like other older hotels we have stayed at. The continental breakfast was very good with lots of choices even for kids. The best was the complimentary cocktails in the evening. The pool was nice for the kids. I loved the two courtyards off of the lobby. We would stay here again if in Gainesviille.

Stayed one night at Cabot Lodge after seeing a coupon from a travel magazine I picked up on the Turnpike. I had stayed here years ago and found the property to be very nice.
For the price I paid, it was reasonable but the facility is in need of a cleaning. Its showing its age and looks a little dirty.
They offer a nice breakfast as well as cocktails in the early evening.
If the price is over $75-$80 a night, I suggest staying elsewhere. There are many more options just down the street that are newer properties.
As for the employees, all were extremely nice which made the slightly soiled stay nicer.
