Been to this hotel many times. Unfortunately this year they have changed their animation team. Sad, as without everything that was put in by Bibo, Natasha, Sahbi, Mohamed, Picaso, PeePee and the others this hotel is now boring and lacking in atmosphere.
Unfortunately the atmosphere and everything to do is created by a good hard working animation team and it is very rare to get one where everyone jelled.

We went for 7 nights stay. The hotel is the best in the area by far. The entrance and front gardens are immaculate. The people are very friendly and make a special effort throughout your stay. The rooms were big and actually had one double and two single beds. Lots of space. The food was excellent as was the local Ros? wine (16.5 dinars). The local bottle beer is great only 3 dinars for a bottle. There is lots to do during the day for all. The entertainment staff arrange different events throughout the days and you can participate if you want. we did, and it helped us to get to know other people as well. You can also go on arranged trips. So if you wanna ride a camel or go to the Sahara desert or even sail on a pirate ship you can do it. A taxi can take to you to the two local towns in 10 mins. Taxis are cheap, but haggle upfront for best price. Every night there is some type of event on the outdoor stage or night club stage. Following that there is a disco. If you don't want loud music, then you can always relax in the American piano bar for some light entertainment. Across the road from the hotel is a small shopping mall. It contains a supermarket, gift shop, telephones, money exchange and three restaurants. We had lunch there a few times at the Bed Rock Cafe. It definitely comes alive at night. You can change money at hotel 24 hours. Only two negative points, is that no-one told us that the AC doesn't come on until the 16th June (the day we left). So we just left window open to get fresh air. However, get a plug-in mosquito repellent otherwise you may become bait. Also, we lit insence sticks and found that helped keep them away. The other negative is the only SAT TV channel in English was BBC NEWS. Oh forget to say, the pools are cleaned daily and beach is beautiful.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. What great value for money this was - not much over ?400 each for two weeks half board with Thomas Cook. The hotel is old but very well maintained. There are no lifts which could be a problem for some people but there are some ground floor rooms. Our room was large, very clean & comfortable. There is a super indoor pool as well as the outdoor seawater pool. The choice of food at the buffet is amazing and always includes some local dishes as well as more "international" items. All the staff are friendly and basically the whole experience was very agreeable.
But in case you haven't worked it out from the brochure, the hotel is half way between Monastir & Sousse. Basically to go anywhere you need to go in a taxi or on a bus but that is not a problem as they are so cheap. We found that it was a good central location for the places we wanted to visit and so used all the different types of transport available (including louages which are local shared mini bus taxis). So just be aware that there is nowhere to walk from the hotel apart from on the beach or across the road on the lovely golf course.

ahh the mirimar..
Guest name: clairemcg1, scotland
I stayed at the mirimar for two weeks in December with my boyfriend, as this was my first visit to tunisia or any arabic country it was quite a culture shock but thoroughly enjoyable and I'd go back again tomorrow!
The hotel was fantastic value for money (?449 for two weeks, half board for both of us) and we were very pleasantly surprised.
The rooms in the hotel were clean, bright and airy with views of the hotel gardens or directly overlooking the beach.
I absolutely have to complement the staff who always went out of their way to make sure we were having a great stay, the chef even baked a cake for my 21st birthday while we were there.
Moez the thomas cook rep was fantastic as was Bussy the barman and especially Medu at reception who couldn't do enough for me (with his cheese sandwiches and when my phone went missing)
The location of the hotel is very secluded but taxis into monastir and sousse were no more than 8 dinar at most (about ?3.20)
and the setting was very relaxed.
I have to say the food in the hotel was pretty average and repetitive but then again I'm very fussy and I found this was the case with all of the food in tunisia.
Overall I had a fantastic first visit to Tunisia the only thing missing was the sunshine but you can't have everything!

Well done Bibo

I do agree with review below. i think the hotel location is excellent. You can enjoy night life in the city but then you come back to a quite place to sleep and relax. I've been to different hotels in Tunisia and so far none of them even compare.
I stayed at this hotel few times and can't really complain. Each time i was given great clean room. Last time they gave me sea view room and i didn't even ask for it!!! The towels are a bit old though.I also agree with comment below about tipping. Nobody force you in this hotel to tip. They're more than happy to help you with anything without tips. Moreover Big thank you for Bussy (American Bar) for my free drinks, no tips there... see...
I don't really understand why people dislike food there. I am not sure if it's only me but i always put on weight while being there. Food is great and lots of variety. I saw some italian girls with plates so filled up that food was almost falling off of it. So must be tasty.
Mr Tumi, (GM) always checking if everything is in order. Mr Kassem, reception manager, you can always depend on him if any problems with the rooms. Very helpful and caring managment.
I enjoyed long lazy days on the beach, lunches on the jetty,( pizza there is great, made by my favourite chef but sorry don't remeber his name). Delicious pankcakes for 1,5 dinar made by the pool, great idea!!!!
Most of all i miss BiBO, great fun guy, with good sence of humor and his romantic smile. Thanks for all romantic times we've spent together and i can't wait to see you again !!! X0x
