Stayed here just the one night in a the deluxe room. The room was much bigger than I was expecting, very modern and clean. I loved everything about the room and the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the mini bar was the best I've seen!
It cost $30 to have my car in the carpark over night, be aware that the carpark is in the street behind the hotel, we discovered this after driving around for about 10 minutes trying to get to the hotel, just to be told the carpark wasnt there. This was a bit annoying. Also when I wanted to leave the next day I was blocked in by another car (the hotel has very limited parking spaces and more cars than they really should), and apparently the staff had forgotten to collect their keys, so I had to wait while they tracked down the owner (who was in his room luckily for me) who came down with the key so I could get out.
Besides the car parking situation everything else about this hotel was brilliant! Although I wouldnt stay here on the weekend if you werent planning a big night yourself, as it was a bit noisy (music still playing at 3am). Didnt bother us though since the location was why we stayed there!!
Definitely will stay there again.

I booked this hotel on wotif.com and really liked it. It was a 2-story loft, in dark, sleek colors. I thought the amenities were good - restaurant / bar, in-room kitchen and lots of toiletries. The only thing I would update are the TVs - they were a bit outdated so the sound quality was poor.

I stayed at the Blacket two different times in May when arriving and departing from Sydney. The location of this hotel is fantastic. Easy walk to both Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and shopping on George St. The hotel is very modern, minimalist and decorated with dark colors & wood. I liked this though, it gave nice young & hip impression.
I would definitely recommend checking the hotel's website for any
"packages". Even though I was only staying one night each time, I found an Autumn Package that provided the room, a bottle of wine, and breakfast for AUS$155, tax included! This was lower than their quoted rate for the room alone.
Internet access is available in the room for $5 per hour (wireless & wired, although I couldn't get a wireless signal in my room on the 7th floor). It's a bit annoying because you need a password to access
the internet, and they only provide it to you on a printed piece of paper (not over the phone), which took 30 min to be delivered to my room when requested. So request your internet access early!
Continental breakfast was so-so. Coffee, tea, breads and some questionable fresh fruits (some canned) with yogurt. The windows do not open, and are different sizes depending on your room (my first room had huge sunny windows with a wide street view, my 2nd room had windows almost on the floor that were half obscured.)
I would stay at the Blacket again if on a business trip.

First impressions of our smartly decorated albeit dingy room with a view over a multi-storied construction site on the corner of King and Geoge St's in the heart of Sydney's CBD were good but unfortunately didn't last for very long.We stayed in the Blacket over the Queens Birthday weekend and now wished we hadn't.
Although the reception staff were lovely and very helpful with details about getting around Sydney they were not forthcoming with information other than about breakfast arrangements. We were given a key and left to our own devices to port our luggage and find our room.
The mattress was saggy and in need of replacement, the blankets old and felted, the toilet continued to run after being flushed, the soaps were the size of thumbnails and the shower water was not always hot.The heating system rattled noisily. The television was positioned on a bracket on the wall, in such a stupid position, at a height that my companion nearly managed to knock himself out on three times. The complimentary bottle of wine on arrival had to be ordered at reception (which we didn't do) and there was no free bottled drinking water available for international tourists with sensitive stomaches (or us), in the minibar.
We probably could have overlooked some of these shortcomings had we not expected a central Sydney CBD boutique hotel experience of at least a minimum standard.
Although we kept our room in the hotel on Saturday night we were out until Sunday morning. We were not impressed with the dried vomit on the carpet in the hallway leading to our room when we returned on Sunday morning but were keen to get some sleep after being out all night and ignored it. On Sunday evening we planned to stay in, have an early night and either eat at the inhouse restaurant ''Level Three"or dial up some room service. It wasn't until Sunday evening we discovered by ringing reception that there was no room service on a Sunday evening and 'Level Three"was closed to guests due to a private function.
The private funtion at Level Three on the floor below us went until 4am on Monday morning, not only depriving us of an inhouse dinner but making it impossible to sleep with the loud, thumping disco music that continued until stumps at 4am.The music and loud inebriated voices pumped through our room like a nightmare depriving us of any chance of sleep.
The continental breakfast was an abysmal affair in the cold room that only hours earlier had hosted the private function. The bread like cardboard, inedible even toasted. The handle of one of the two toasters available to the guests fell off in my companions hands as he valiantly tried to cobble a breakfast together. We didn't bother trying to order a decent coffee or eggs a la carte, by that stage we were thoroughly over the contempt the Blacket demonstrates for their guests needs.Staying at the Blacket put me in a very black mood indeed. It's an experience that my companion and I will not be repeating in our lifetimes and we hope that we can spare you a similar adventure at this particular central Sydney '"boutique" hotel.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed at the Blackett over the New Year period in 2005/06. It was tucked away just off George Street and from the outside it didn't really amout to much, but once inside we found the staff to be helpful and the room was large (although like others have said dark coloured decor and minimal) which we found vto be clean and simple, we liked that. The rooms are very quiet, and no noise was heard on New Years Eve after we returned despite the parties going on until late. We enjoyed the breakfast, very efficient staff. We would definately recommend The Blacket if you want to be very central (probably 20 mins walk to circular Quay, loads of buses) but also have the peace and quiet once in your room.
