At first I was hesitant based on the reviews I have seen. But based on my experience, it was a good hotel to stay at. It was a 20 minute bus ride the center of rome (BUS 808 and 881). The breakfast was one the the better ones I had in my entire stay. The staff was helpful, the rooms was a decent sixe. I had a triple room. The rate was excellent. I even took the bus then the train from the airport. We got the 3 day ROMA pass which covers the train and bus rides. I am not sure why other people rated this hotel bad. You need to keep in mind that you get what you paid for. As for me, my family got far more than what we paid for.
I would stay here again if I came back to Rome.

This hotel was absolutly horrific. It is being renovated, so there is scaffolding everywhere. the staff was not very helpful with directions. When you walk into the hotel, there are stains all over the carpet. The rooms are tiny, the air did not work. It was a huge disappointment. Could not even think about eating there, just from the looks of the dirty carpet and gross rooms. Would never ever go there again. Signs everywhere about the "new and improved hotel coming soon" obviously from these other reviews, renovations have been going on since 2006!!! Not a big fan.
Not my favorite place to stay

We stayed here on our last night in Italy. We chose it because it was inexpensive. Also, the location suited us as it was a pretty straight shot to the airport in the morning. The room was adequate but the hotel was charmless and it was in a dreary neighborhood. If you are on a budget I wouldn't discourage you from staying here. Just don't use the phone or drink any beverages from your room as you will be charged an arm and a leg for them. Apparently they compensate for the low prices by charging exhorbitant prices for these amenities.

I was terrified of this hotel because of bad reviews but after I have been there I can say that hotel is not that bad at all. There are two major disadvantages, it is very far from the city center, it takes about 5-6 bus stations + 5-6 metro stations to get to the center of Rome (30-40 min. and even longer by night). On the other hand there is a bus line no. 881 that takes you directly to the Vatican city. Second major disadvantage is that hotel is really, but I mean REALLY old. It looks like it is frozen in 1970's. However it is currently being renovated. Good things about this hotel are that rooms are spacious, relatively clean, hotel has garage parking which is free (that way you can save 30-40 EUR per day if you are coming to Rome by car), the personnel is very friendly and helpful and breakfast is really excellent. Considering very low price, I can recommend this hotel to budget travelers. They advertise this hotel to have 4 stars but in my opinion it is close to 2+ or 3 stars, even by European standards. This hotels definitely isn't the Hilton but it does the job.

I was scared to death of staying here because of the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were spacious and clean, and were quite comfortable to stay in. The staff at the front desk were quite helpful, and spoke English well. The internet is only in the lobby, and is very expensive- 4 Euro for 30 minutes! The breakfast was really good, and there was quite a selection of food. It was all high quality and fresh. The AC wasn't working while we were there, and the front-desk said it was because of the renovations. Other than that, it was far from the Termini train station- it takes 2 buses and 1 metro to get there (1 hour with waiting times). The bus doesn't go directly to the metro stop Cornelia as they say (the 881), you have to take another bus for 2 stops (the 791) in between. The buses run quite regularly, and a 1-Euro pass will last for 75 minutes on the buses and trains. The 881 bus right in front of the hotel goes directly to the Vatican City, and took less than 30 minutes.
There were restaurants about a 10-minutes walk away that were really cheap and good. We got a pizza big enough for 4 people for only 10-euro. Given that they charge you 4.50 for a latte in the Vatican, this was quite a relief on our budget! There was also a huge supermarket within walking distance where you can stock up on your Nutella. :-)
I would probably stay here again, if I paid what I paid last time. This hotel would probably compare to a Holiday-Inn in the US, a solid 3-star, MAYBE 3.5. The only drawbacks were the location and the internet-in-lobby thing.
