I recently was married at MYC and would not recommend it to any future couples. In the year leading up to the wedding they went through 3 wedding planners and the final one left the position two weeks before the wedding. Here is a short list of the shortcomings:
-3 weeks before the wedding they didn't realize our wedding was booked
-they had all of the wrong locations for the ceremony and reception
-they were the most unprofessional unorganized outfit I have ever seen - I felt like they had never done this before
-they nickel and dime you for everything little thing that should have been complimentary
-the rooms are old and drab

MYC is a luxury, tranquil, wonderful place to stay. We had large rooms with a private balcony overlooking the quayside which was filled with luxury yachts. The rooms had a high level of finish with all the mod cons of fridge, safe, TV, coffee making & toilettries, there was also a spacious walk in wardrobe. The hotel/club facilities were fabulous, we used the pools and the well equiped gym as well as the restaurant, cafe and bar. Sitting at the bar sipping cocktails whilst looking through the huge wall of windows and looking out at the sunsetting over the bay was a smuggly relaxing feeling. All the staff bent over backwards to ensure you were having a good time, the service was excellent. As a general aside, Montauk itself was a very relaxed and friendly little place, with excellent local shopping and restaurants. I thoroughly recommend taking breakfast at Johns Pancake House where the selection is huge and the staff welcoming, also a ride out at the Deep Hollow Ranch is not to be missed.

Just returned from a one night stay at the MYC. Rooms are very basic and in desperate need of a renovation, the hotel has a large sign when you check in depicting the new renovated rooms (2009). My room overlooked the parking lot which was fine since I was on business and by myself, problem is that I paid $226 with resort fees and tax. This room should have been no more than $89, on the plus side AC was cool, bed and linens very comfortable on the down side bathroom was last renovated in 1976, walls had signs of mold, bathroom floor had mold in the grout lines, rusty shower curtain holder. All of which I would have expected for $89 but not for $226. The area can get away with this since there are no national hotel chains with cleanliness standards, which to compare them too.
If you plan on staying here for a vacation, I strongly recommend a water view, unless you like to look directly over a paved parking lot.

I just returned from a short stay at the Montauk Yacht Club for a business offsite. For a business retreat in the offseason, it worked well because there were few other guests, limited distractions and plenty of space. We had a nice conference room with a balcony overlooking the water.
The rooms are mediocre. Mine had a decent view from the balcony, two queen beds and very generous closets. They could stand to be updated a little bit and the walls are very thin!! Some of us had problems with the air conditioning.
I was not impressed with the restaurant. The menu selection is poor and the food itself was boring and bland. And no wine list? To be fair, I believe they recently acquired a new food staff and are making an effort to improve this. Until then, I would recommend going out to dinner.
Very nice open bar area overlooking the water.

Definitely not worth the money they charge. The grounds are nice but once in our room we felt like being in some cheap motel that has not been renovated since the early ninety’s. We could hear the people in the next room and above us.
Worst of all, they have infestation issues; there were ants all over the bathroom floor.
After checking with friends that vacation in the area, we were told that most hotels around Montauk give similar experiences.
You only pay for being close to the Hamptons.
