My wife and I celebrated our 16th anniversary in Savannah. We booked the Planters Inn based on location, price, and the look of the hotel on the website.
When we arrived we were shown to a room with 2 twins, despite booking a Queen. A trip back to the front desk quickly fixed the issue. Don't book the "house choice" rate unless you are OK with 2 twin beds.
The staff was amazingly friendly, thre room was clean. Nothing spectacular, but clean and comfortable. We paid $189, which is not too bad for Savannah. The location was perfect. A block and a half from river street, a couple of blocks from city market and a block or two from Broughton Ave. We valeted the car and didn't need it all weekend.
We would stay at Planters Inn again, and I'd recommend it to anyone

Just got back from Planters Inn- some positives and some negatives.
Positives: Great location!!!!! Two blocks from everything. Rooms equip with everything you need. Fast internet. Nice size bathroom and nice towels. Staff very nice. We had small room problem initially, but they worked it out very quick and were very nice. Valet parking was nice and necessary (11.99 a day). But again the best part was the location.
Negatives: Only a few - breakfast was nothing to talk about, pretty much cold stuff. Also have to call for ice to be delivered to your room no machines. Again parking was expensive. All rooms except suites face a parking deck.
Overall a nice place for the money. Make sure you eat at the Pink House next door (if you can afford it, restaurant is expensive). Clean, great location, nice people at a good price, what more can you ask for?

Our room was very pretty, comfortable and clean. We had requested a room with two twins and were shown a queen, but that was remedied immediately by a very nice desk clerk. We had to wait a few minutes for the valet to take our bags and park the car...just one on duty, but he was pleasant and accomadating. We were pleased with the turn down service the first night....a mint on our pillows, a big bottle of Evian water and a bucker of ice. The second night it was delivered late by a employee who was not too friendly. Were we supposed to leave a tip every night? We didn't know and left one tip for housekeeping the morning we left. We found the breakfast adequate...no problems. The best feature is the location....very near River street and within walking distance of just about all the historic district. We enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Planters Inn recently and had a great time. Our room was nice and clean. The hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to plenty of restaurants and to River Street. For savings on parking, I would recommend parking in the city parking deck across the square rather than in the parking deck next to the hotel, it is cheaper for overnight parking.

I have just stayed at Planters Inn in Savannah and cannot recommend it. The first room I was assigned was facing a parking lot and was dark and dingy,. I then was moved to a nicer room facing the square but for two days I did not have air-conditioning. They kept sending bellboys up to fix it and each time it stopped working in the middle of the night. They insisted on charging me MORE for this room! Then, when they admitted they couldn't fix the air conditioning, they moved me to another room and insisted on charging me more for that room too!
The manager was hostile and instead of comping me for a night or being gracious and apologetic was rude and unpleasant.
The breakfast room is dark and windowless and the grits were tasteless...nothing special.
There are great places to stay in Savannah but unfortunately I don't think this is one of them.
