Don't know the circumstances of some of the negative reviews, but ours was absolutely great! (and we're used to staying in above average accommodations) We were so pleasantly surprised at the accommodations at the Cove. We stayed in the South Building and the condos were spacious and well equipped. The whole facility was clean and nicely landscaped. The kids had a wonderful time at the pool tubing down the "lazy river" and sliding down loopy water slide. Pool area got a bit crowded a couple days, otherwise it was wonderful. On Sunday, free grilled hot dogs/chips/and soft drinks were offered near the pool area during lunch. Monday morning there was free continental breakfast. The beach was beautiful. The Cove provides their guests with towels, lounge chairs and umbrellas and someone who comes and sets them up for you. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful! I'd highly recommend the Cove! It's a great place and a great value!

The condo was awful, dirty stained floors, chipped furniture, the T.V. was NO plasema as told in the discription on the internet ,it was maybe a 20inch, the bed was NOT a king, the stove was NOT a full size smooth top as shown in the pictures on the net.it was a small apartment size one, apparently there are two towers and we had the OLD one so i suggest you make sure you get put in the new one witch is the one shown on the internet and when we complained all the girl at the front desk would say was .... Sorry..So we ended up leaving after the first night ...

For all of those who have written bad reviews about The Cove have not stayed in the South Tower. I just returned home from there after a week and we (my husband, kids, and I) LOVED it! The condo was beautiful - everything that the ad described, but I remind you - it was in the South tower. If you are going, it is definitely worth it to pay the extra for a luxary suite in the South Tower. Kitchen was beautiful - decor was modern and very tropical vacation.
As for the staff - they were awesome. Past entries have talked about how horrible they were, but I didn't experience that at all. Vivian the event planner was wonderful. We are not time share owners, so we recieved a call from Kathy everyday about the presentations, but never felt any pressure to go (which by the way we didn't). The front desk was nice, busy - but never anything but friendly. Also, we never tried to exchange towels, but we took our own since we were at the beach!!! I loved this place so much that if my in-laws return to the Ormond area again next year we will be staying again!!!!
PS - I loved that it was a non-smoking resort...however, if you do smoke, there are ashtrays right outside the buildings and outside of the pool area in the parking lot and beach area!

We stayed at the Cove in early February. It was adequate for our needs. We were given an ocean view room, which was nice. However, it was extremely foggy so we really couldn't appreciate this gesture.
We found the price very reasonable. Our room's decor was very dated...pinks, turquoise, rattan, etc., but I believe the rooms are in the process of being refurbished. The furniture was a little worn too.
Overall, I am pleased with our selection of The Cove. The check-in staff was friendly. We only had contact with them at check-in. They recommended a restaurant down the road called Charlie Horse...I think? It was a good choice.
I would probably stay here again, but with renovations being done, I imagine it will be more expensive. I think we payed $50 a night. Pretty darn cheap!!!!

We stayed in the North Tower of the Cove on Ormond Beach this past week and enjoyed our stay. I wanted to share our experiences for future travelers. First, we used our timeshare exchange to stay a week at the Cove. Since we own a Marriott timeshare, our expectations for cleanliness and upkeep are quite high.
That said, the Cove was clean albeit very dated. The hotel furnishings are very 1980's and quite worn, and the bed linens were pretty ratty. The carpet in the 2 bedroom suite was horrible. Fortunately, they are in the process of renovating the interior (begins 3/31) so hopefully all of my comments will be not a big deal. Hopefully the update includes adding new appliances as the stove/range was pretty terrible. Did not cook evenly at all.
On the good side:
Nice staff, great pool, fun waterslide, beachfront with great waves for boogey boarding, hotel was clean enough, free beach chairs and umbrellas, plenty of towels, close to family friendly dining and activities.
On the not-so-good side:
DATED decor, worn carpets, charged for use of high chair and pack and play.
