Unless you are trying to save money, avoid this hotel. It is anything but Splendid. The website is very misleading....yes, there is a view, but of the wrong side of Naples, overlooking a train yard, a football stadium and an industrial area. We booked a double room with a view for 4 nights, and upon arrival the manager apologized and said he had only 1 room left with no view. The room was very shabby and only somewhat nicer than a hostel. We had to ask for the remote to the TV and A/C unit, and the satellite TV and WiFi promised on the website didn't exist. The hotel breakfast was adequate, but the restaurant was completely closed for meals, forcing guests to walk up a steep hill to the main road to local restaurants. Hotel staff seemed bothered by questions about the area, and one night desk clerk wouldn't leave his TV (and Naples soccer game) to call us a taxi.
In general, Naples is an incredibly exciting city, with gorgeous views, great culture and some of the best food in the world. We'll try a different hotel if we return to Bella Napoli, and we'll leave the Splendid to backpackers on a budget.

Good points:
Very good view over Naples bay from our fourth floor room, which was clean and spacious.
Bad points:
Building beginning to look slightly shabby and neglected - nothing like their website!
Tiny lift, room for one person and two cases only
Staff not particularly well-informed or helpful (no idea about trips to Pompeii for example)
Poor breakfast - we had to ask for cereal bowls and milk.
Restaurant appears to be closed, so don't expect an evening meal.
In summary:
As things stand it was acceptable for a few days, but I wouldn't bet on standards improving, so wouldn't risk another visit.
