Recently stayed three nights at this property. We arrived by car and found the location, just off the main ring road very convenient. Much of Salamanca is pedestrianised and so trying to drive to a hotel further into the city centre might be a nightmare. It also has a secure parking garage which is pretty much essential as on street parking is virtually none existant in our opinion around the hotel and residents take up all the spaces that are available.
Check in was okay but the desk staff were very indifferent and not very welcoming. We noted that for 18 euros per night (plus tax)we could have upgraded to a room with a view.
Our room was massive, well equiped and in good condition. It over looked a bleak light well but this did not matter to us. The furnishings were odd though, a mix of 1980's style with some really up to date touches, like the flat screen TV, light fittings and funky headboard. The bathroom was similarly huge, marble clad and with large fluffy towels and good quality toiletries, including the hotels own cologne. To activate the lights and a/c you had to insert your key card into a slot. Green credentials indeed but on our return to the room each day it was stiffling until the a/c brought the temperature down which probably used as much electricity as it saved!
We found breakfast to be more than adequate with a hot and cold selection to suit most tastes and was included in our room rate. However, the waiting staff were just like the reception staff - morose and scowlling.
The hotel blends in well with its surroundings and is about a 10 minute walk to the historic centre, although historic university buildings and churches surround the hotel which make for a very pleasant setting. We did think that the reception and small lounge area looked a little shabby though.
The hotel did not have many tourists staying while we were there but appeared to be popular with the business community - all the conference rooms were busy each day.
Salamanca is a very beautiful city but we found the eating options in the evening to be very poor which spoiled our stay a little.

We stayed at the Abba Fonseca hotel for two nights and were not disappointed. While the hotel is built in the old style of Salamancan architecture, the room had a very modern feel to it, was well furnished and well equipped with all amenities including flat screen TV (which, however, you really should not consider using if spending time in Salamanca).
The bed was most comfortable, the bathroom was modern and well equipped and the room was spotless. The icing on the cake was that we were given a room with a view without having to pay the usual supplement. And in Salamanca a room with a view is likely to have a fairly spectacular view (the candid photo of an earlier reviewer gives you an idea).
The hotel is also in a very quiet location, but nevertheless within very easy walking distance of the city centre, and at the same time quite easily accessible by car. Be aware that as in most Spanish hotels, you have to pay for the hotel garage, but we avoided that by parking in the street behind the hotel. However, free parking in the streets is limited, so we were lucky in that aspect.
For those wanting to relax in the hotel, there is a gym that seemed well equipped and a spa/jaccuzi/massage service (a real one, not the dodgy version) at their disposal, all of which seemed to be in mint condition (although we tried none of it).
The only letdown was, in my opinion, the breakfast, which was a bit meagre for the price EUR 12.50. You do get a buffet, but there was not a great choice - although the orange juice was freshly squeezed and the selection of fresh fruit was very good. On the other hand, the selection of bread was limited and the cold meats and cheese they had did not look great. However, I hasten to add that we woke up late, so quite possibly breakfast would have looked more appealing had we arrived earlier than half an hour before they stop serving it... It should also be said that the many bars in the city centre provide an excellent and much more original alternative for breakfast - for example, try Torres on Plaza Mayor for a (small) Spanish breakfast and then tuck in more heartily for lunch.
All in all, a good stay in a recommendable hotel in a most remarkable city.
