We were very nervous about staying here because of the Fawlty towers tag - but that person must have been suffering with an illness. The staff are wonderful especially the night staff (thanks so much you made our stay!!). the rooms are clean and bright, towels ect provided. The breakfast was lovely and i would definatly stay there again. Thanks so much xx
Lovely little place!

We stayed in this hotel for a night as part of a hen party. Reading earlier reviews filled me with dread as to what we may find - but it just goes to show you shouldn't believe everything you read! We had
a fantastic time. The place was spotless, staff very friendly, food lovey and accomodation excellent! The location was really good to with some nice local bars, and only a 10 min taxi ride into town. I will be back!

I stayed one night while attending a function, the locations great for Jesmond and the metro isn't too far away. I found all the staff friendly but there were problems with my room. It was furnished reasonably well and had a comfortable bed but the TV had been there since the seventies, cigarette burns in the plastic, no remote control just buttons 1-8 on the front to change channels. These contained the five main channels in no particular order and espn classic. The other two were just interference.
The bathroom was pokey (probably not 6 feet by 6 feet) with the main light flashing on and off in a manner that could induce an epilectic fit and with no natural light it made for an interesting experience. The shower was in need of a really good clean and although I'm a little bit chunky a tight squeeze to get into through the sliding door which I then found was jammed hence half an inch of water all over the floor when I'd finished. The sink was also interesting as hot water came from both taps, a bit of a concern when your looking for a drink.
Breakfast was fine if basic, although the waitress forgot to bring me my promised coffee and toast even after she'd delivered the main breakfast.
A little bit of work and it wouldn't be a bad hotel but at the moment I wouldn't stay more than one night and it's a little expensive for what you get.

A small party of us stayed here recently - chosen because of good reviews. This hotel has a very run-down and unstylish ambience despite the presence of some new wallpaper. Rooms very pokey, no soundproofing, uncomfortable beds, antiquated televisions, ancient wall-mounted hairdryers and radios. Downstairs there is a pervading odour of cigarette smoke and chip fat. In my room, the strong smell of chemical air freshener and bleach did not mask the smell of mould from the shower room - the shower cubicle was so mouldy I decided not to use it. Fortunately we were only booked for one night - there is no way I would have stayed another. Not very expensive but not nearly cheap enough for what we got.
