Stayed at the Waterfront Insular 6 nights in June 2008. Very beautiful gardens and grounds, patios and restaurants. Rooms were adequate but nothing special. Staff was very friendly and anxious to help. An excellent experience overall. There is an outstanding seafood restaurant about 5 minutes away called Marina Tuna. Highly recommended.

Have stayed in this resort/hotel before - many years ago and have found it to be the best in Davao City. This is the reason why I booked it again for this holiday.
The price was exorbitant for the room that we had. It was dark, with old scratched wooden floors, tired (and mended!) bedspreads, and cotton sheets that looked like they've been around for 20 years! The shower walls had mold and grime and there was hair on it when I first used it! The faucet needed replacing and the airconditioning was so noisy we couldn't sleep.
Outside our room, there was this huge electric fan which was going on all day. Had to turn it off at night as it was making this loud whirring noise which could be heard down the entire corridor!
The entire hotel drastically needs refurbishing and updating. So very disappointed with our room.
Staff service was excellent - couldn't fault this at all. They were the only reason why we did not complain. All were very helpful, friendly and accommodating.
Internet charges were reasonable - $2.20 per hour, food and beverage however, are expensive. Better to eat downtown.

I stayed for one night (Oct 4, 2007) and got room 453. Staff are very friendly and hospitable. The room was okay. But the bathroom /showers did not have any hot water! Likewise the door knob of the bathroom just slid off when I tried opening it. This property has seen better days and given the competition its about time management at least try to maintain the basics.

The rooms are decent. Got an average room. nothing to jump up and down for. The location is nice and spread out. The service is decent. If you want a luxurious place, look elsewhere. The complimentary breakfast was good. Pool was small and empty. Beach is small. Very average place.
One thing that did bother me was their "business center". It has 2 computers with DSL. I used it one day and nobody bothered me about it. The 2nd day, one of the lobby staff stopped me and told me he was going to charge me. I have no problems with being charged, but there was NOT a single sign posted regarding the fees. I told them they need a sign posted... I wonder if they've added it yet.
