I was staying in Cebu as I am interested in buying a home there.
I am English and have had enough of the UK!
Anyway I have been lucky enough to travel a lot recently and I have to say that this hotel reminded me of a middle of the road Vegas property. For the price the rooms were very comfortable. The selection of retaurants is very good, the Chinese restaurant in particular was very good - but the atmosphere was sadly lacking.
The hotel is only a short taxi ride or 15 minute walk to the shopping malls (Ayala and SM) - don't take the hotel cars they are very over priced.
This hotel is a real diamond in the rough - The city itself I found sadly lacking and I won't be moving here!
Oh and don't let the Waterfront name fool you, just like the Sea View hotel in Dubai that I stayed in recently It's nowhere near the water and you wont get a view of anything other than the pool.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and would compete with any hotel anywhere I have ever stayed. And if you like gambling the Casino is really good fun - However please be-aware EVERYBODY in the Philippines smokes!! So you will stink of stale cigarettes after a night out.
To sum up nice hotel, good staff and service - but if you want a beach or water view choose something on Mactan Island and if you really want a tropical Asian Holiday go to Thailand it's Smiles better.

Unlike some of the reviewers here. They dislike this hotel and I don't know why.. This hotel gave me and my family a very comfortable room where it was spacious. The lobby was awesome because it was really big and there are small shops there..My favorite part was the breakfast because they serve a wide range of food and delicious too..It was great and awesome

Stayed in this hotel twice over a 2 week period, both times checking in and out were fine with no major hassles.
Both rooms I had (Deluxe King and Deluxe Premium) were spacious and clean. One thing I did notice though was the price of things in the minibar seems to change depending on your type of room! The slightly more expensive Deluxe Premium room appeared to charge slightly more for minibar items. Maybe had something to do with the room being closer to the casino than my previous room and the hotel assuming I might make a few quid in there! :-)
Overall, really happy with this hotel and will be staying there again at the end of this year.

First and foremost hotel is not near the water. It is probably about a mile or two away, and that water is more of an industrial or non beach type waterfront. From the seventh floor nonsmoking room you can just barely seen the water.
Also, I have a problem with hotels charging for their internet. Yes I know a lot of hotels do this, like for local phones calls, but I usually try to stay in places where it is part of the room rate. The rates were just a little higher than you would pay in an internet cafe, so not a big deal.
However for the price the room was pretty medicore. The bathtubs were a little deeper than normal are a little narrow, to the point were there was just enough room for me put my feet together before the curve. When I moved my feet to normal stance I almost slipped. I was a little nervous standing in it.
I do have say they do have several nice restaurants, Chinese, Japanese, with a general buffet, and a seafood buffet. Plus a couple I didn't go to. I do have say the Italian restaurant was outstanding. Had the best italian food there than I have had in a long time.
The Hotel is located centrally, so close to alot of attractions. Also the hotel has two duty free stores, a large convention center, and a large casino.
I will not stay there again. Not bad, but not greet. I am looking for more of a hotel with a beach accessible location.

I work in Cebu City and have had the opportunity to stay here a couple times as I was finding my way around. Both of my stays in December were just not very memorable.
Overall the hotel is not in very good condition and the rooms are older and rather worn down. Beds are middle of the road. Nothing special but you can still get a nights rest.
My first impression was very bad. I was awoken in the middle of the night by the sound of rainfall. When I realized it was coming from outside my door and not outside the hotel I was a bit alarmed. A pipe had burst in hallway ceiling and the water was flooding under my door, soaking the carpet and everything in its path. I called the front desk and they said they knew about it. I looked out the door - not a person in hallway. They just let it flood. It continued for about 2 hours until they put a big laundry container under it. The water was pooling in the container and they left. WIthin about an hour the container was full and the over flow continued. finally I left for my office at about 7am because I just didn't feel very comfortable with the flooding. When I returned the carpet was still soaking wet to the point where your feet got wet through your shoes. I asked the front desk to move me but "hotel full" was the only response I got. So give them a minus 10 for bad service too.
The biggest disadvantage of this hotel is it's location. The roosters will wake you up at the crack of dawn if you are a light sleeper. I was on the top floor and they got me every day way before I was ready to get up.
Ran out of hot water when trying to take a shower at 7am - not just once but every day.
The breakfast buffet was nice with plenty of choices including Filipino, American and Asian choices.
Another interesting twist at this hotel is that it has a small casino. It's ok if you have a fetish for loosing your money. The one thing that threw me were the "ladies" that roam the halls outside the casino asking if you want to take them back to your room. I was surprised that will all the security to get into the hotel that these ladies could just roam free. Something tells me this may be a "hotel service" that isn't on the room menu.
For the price, you are better off staying at the Marco Polo.
