The other reviews for this hotel are pretty much spot on.
Good points:
Good location for shops with MG Road just around the corner and a shopping centre with McDonalds, Pizza Hut and a few 'western' shops if you feel the need for some home comforts.Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Resasonable prices for food and drinks including the mini bar in the room. Fairly comfortable rooms. Reasonable selection of TV programs. Relatively quiet by Pune standards. It has a bar.
Not so good points:
Bathrooms in need of complete refit as they looked very tired. Broken or lose fittings such as toilet seats, taps, electrical sockets not unusual. Bedroom carpet desparately in need of a shampoo, not just a quick vacuum. Mixed signal strength for the rather expensive wireless broadband. Swimming pool didn't look particularly inviting and I never saw anyone use it. Hotel expensive for what you get but I suspect that western companies don't get the best rates. Bar only open from 19:00 to 23:30 so no chance of an afternoon beer at the weekend. Nowhere to sit outside and relax (apart from around the uninviting swimming pool).
Would I stay there again? Maybe. I think I'd try the Meridien, Sun 'n Sand, Taj Blue Diamond or Central Park first though.

We were surprised how expensive this hotel was for all that we got.
I was OK - clean and functional with pleasant staff. There are no frills however and the stated welcome pack with fruit and cookies is factitious! Internet costs a fortune ($20US for 24h access).
We got a room with a view over the swimming pool which was separated from poor families's shacks by a thin concrete wall. This made it rather unpleasant as we knew what we paid for one night they would prob earn in a year.
we ate in the hotel on 3 occasions as breakfast was included in the price for us. The food was good, and we had no problems even after eating the cut fruit and salads.

I was enjoying my stay at Sagar Plaza until eating the prawns in oyster sauce from the room service menu gave me severe food poisoning. It was not like Chinese food I have tasted anywhere on Earth and the after-effects were..unique, not to mention painful, taking days out of a business trip.
The rooms were adequate, however the bathroom was dirty and tatty, not what one would expect from a 4* hotel. In addition, the restrooms behind the swimming pool were constantly locked, leaving a squalid little area to change in, with no-one on hand to unlock the doors.
Internet connectivity (wifi) was via an external provider and did not always work. It was a little inconvenient to have to constantly ring for another card containing the serial number and password.
The hotel's aspirations for superiority are knocked-down by a multitude of relatively minor flaws that add up to one big annoyance. A few examples: TV did not always work, had to constantly ring reception with reminders for an internet card 1 day late, getting the gym opening time wrong, low battery on safe, no bottle opener; ill-timed calls from housekeeping; all the minor things a quality chain would have covered, so you don't waste your personal time. That said, the staff were friendly and usually responsive.
The only reason I stayed here was due to the other international hotels being completely full for my trip. I hope more quality hotel chains open up soon; suffice to say I won't be staying at this hotel again.

The rooms are clean- although the carpet can use upgrade. Bathrooms are clean too. I liked the fact they have power sockets for US equipment. Staff is ok - the reception can use some smile. Food is above average - good buffets.
Even though they advertized, I had problems finding Internet wifi cards through the support staff.
Excellent location - could walk to movie theatres, malls and conventional shopping districts in Pune.

Unlike some other reviewers, I had no issues with noise problems. The building across the street is completed, and is now a shopping mall. The one issue I did have during the month I was there was that smokers would occasionally be in surrounding rooms, and the ventilation system spread their smoke smell into my room. Worst part of the stay. The restaurant, Tangerine, was fine, with a nice buffet and extremely friendly staff. They got to know me over time, as did the hotel service staff, who all did an excellent job. The hotel does not have a gym onsite, but you can use the Abs gym in the nearby Nucleus shopping center. It's a fun gym, great staff and adequately equipped...it easily beats a typical hotel gym. Hotel does not offer internet connectivity; it's reached via a local wireless provider (buy an hour usage card at the hotel front desk), and is not reliable. Pool was fine (it's 5 feet deep). The hotel itself is fairly nice, the bathroom a bit more tatty than the rest of the room, but the hotel staff set my visit into the above average range. The location of Sagar Plaza is great. Nucleus mall very close, Pyrimid, etc. MG Road a very short walk, as is the bus station, movie theater and lots of food options. Don't miss the Ram Krishna restaurant just around the corner...excellent veg food. 1000 Oaks is a good bar/restaurant, and not a far walk either. The Taj and Le Meridien are nicer, but the location of the Sagar Plaza gives you a lot more to do if you're on foot or relying on 3 wheelers to get around. I originally intended to stay in the Aurora Towers, but it was full. I visited it, and found the Sagar Plaza to be nicer and in a quieter location.
