Stayed for 3 nights at the Caravel, was very clean and tidy, rooms cleaned and beds made/fresh towels on a daily basis. Staff friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was nice. Hairdryers in rooms were rubbish though! Bus stop down the road taking you to all major attractions, although there wasnt much to do in the local area everything closed quite early. Would stay there again.

We stayed at the Caravel for 3 nights as part of a Cosmos tour. As a budget hotel it was fine. The rooms were large and clean. It was difficult to use the shower in the bath as there was nothing on the wall to attach it to.
Breakfasts were good.
Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The bar only opens at 3.00pm and before then no food or drinks are available in the hotel
It was really easy to get into Rome by bus. You can buy tickets from the desk (1 Euro per journey).
The snack bar next door was very cheap.
We did go into town on Easter Sunday but because of the extremely heavy rain had to return early when we found that the snack bar and restaurants were all closed so our Easter lunch comprised an ice cream from one shop and a takeaway pizza from another. Really cheap but not what we expected!

This hotel is slightly out of the city but it is cheaper than most in the city. The room and the bathroom we got (214) were large and met our needs, and included a minibar fridge in the room which we could also keep our own drinks and food in. The room was cleaned each day and was always looking spotless when we returned to it each day. Breakfast was typical Italian and was always fresh and available until 10:00.
There is a useful supermarket behind the hotel, and a small number of restaurants nearby. However we chose to eat in the city on most occasions, mainly due to the convenience of being in the centre and of having greater choice.
We paid just 16 euros for a week-long ticket for the transport network, which we could use on any underground train or bus. There are several buses that go past the hotel into the city and the trip takes around 15 minutes; futhermore we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a bus. The 714 from Termini Station runs until midnight and although the hotel is close to a red light area the bus drops you at the hotel door and the area is very lit up and safe.
The staff on reception spoke a good level of English and were always very polite and helpful whenever we needed to ask anything. The hotel also has internet available. As long as you're prepared for the short journey into the city then we would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again ourselves.

This is a wonderful hotel. So good, its the second time i`ve stayed here. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to stay in Rome and not pay through the nose for hotels. The bedrooms are large, with individual air-con, mini-bar, wardrobe, writing table, chest of draws and large screen TV. The bathrooms are enormous. Bigger than several hotel bedrooms i`ve stayed in. They only have baths though, so if you prefer a shower, you`ll have to do it sitting down or be prepared to mop the floor! Breakfast is typical italian hotel buffet with meats, cheeses, yoghurts, fruit, cakes and juices etc. Just don`t go 10 minutes before the end as there will be a limited choice!
For 50 Euros per room a night you simply cant go wrong. Very easy to get to too. Take the slow train to Roma Ostiense and then bus 30/130/60 3 stops to the hotels door. Travelling to the city centre takes 14 minutes by bus (1 Euro) and they are every few minutes till midnight.
If I had to make a negative comment i would say that being on the main road into Rome its possible to notice the odd "girl" standing by the roadside if you go back to the hotel after 11pm, but they are no problem whatsoever. But this is typical of any hotel on a main road leading into any Italian city.
In summary, if you dont mind a 14 minutes bus trip twice a day, save youreself a fortune and stay here!

We booked this hotel last November for a stay of 7 nights from 7th May through alpharooms.com.
On arrival we were told that we could not stay and were directed to Hotel Bled. Although the same grade it was very shabby and the room allocated had no waste plug for the washbasin and no hot water. We eventually managed to get the manager to transfer us to Hotel Torino. This was a vast improvement.
