This hotel is absolutely fabulous. The rooms are very spacious and also spotlessly clean. Unfortunately we were placed on the tenth floor with a window so low you could trip and fall out of it. We asked if we could swap rooms as we had requested a lower floor for the kids and we were told very impolitely that it would be impossible to swap. There are a lot of elderly people staying at this hotel. In fact we only counted a handful of children in the whole of Peurto de la Cruz. Our kids are not unruly they are very well behaved but the complete silence that is required was a bit much for all of us. The travel agents we booked with should have told this and we could have gone somewhere more suited to us where children are welcome. After saying that though the hotel is gorgeous. The food that is prepared is faultless. The pool area is lovely and clean. A perfect place to go if you are elderly. Dont take your kiddies here though.

just returned from 2 weeks at the tenerife playa booked before i read reviews and was horrified but was pleasantly surprised by what we found book in went well [we weren't offered champagne though other nationalities were] and our room was clean and well appointed [no balcony] on 10th floor was worried we would be confronted by nudists but none there whilst we were there bar staff fine and special praise for waiters at snack bar had heard pool attendant was "little hitler" but was fine with us laughing and joking and teaching me spanish for 2 clean towels please each day only down side was restaurant food plentiful and lots of choice but staff sullen and unhelpful to english guests but every consideration given to fellow spaniards must say have been all over spain and have never met such rude aggressive people as spanish guests in this hotel they pushed and shoved their way in front of you wouldn't queue and to try to get the lift was a rugby scrum and this from a group whose average age was 70+ animation team was one person speaking in spanish and heaven help you if you did join in the spanish take their games very seriously the same with the flamenco and folklore shows get there early or be prepared to be shouldered out don't let this put you off though 4 of us had a great time in spite of this and hotel is in lovely position on the front opposite the small beach [black sand/no swimming] and adjacent to the lagoons [7 pools to chose from] must mention bar on the beach lovely to sit at night and watch the sun go down and the shamrock irish bar helen and jerry and barman raoul will give you a fantastic welcome and you will have a great night guaranteed

Hotel has most fabulous location, but I suppose being right at the newly refurbished lido it is one of the original hotels in the resort.
The rooms although OK could do with a spruce up, the hotel furnishing were adequate if worn and dated, the food was plentiful, well cooked and a tremendous selection.
On the down side the resort of Puerto de la Cruz, having been every March for the past 5/6 years seems to always have a hotel closed and being given a major overhaul.
The hotel itself could do with a make over.
The plus side of Peurto de ls Cruz is that being in our 50's my wife and I enjoy the resort and the people, although plenty of Brits about there is no yob culture the most entertaining thing is watching the Africans playing hide and seek with the local police, it really is funny, you can buy a Gucci bag, a Rolex watch and a solid gold bracket and still have change from 20 euros, if only!!
Having spent this review somewhat knocking the area it really is very beautiful and there is an abundance of cafes, bars and eating places.
All in all I would recommend the resort, but if you are going get your travel agent to get his hotel book out from under his counter to get the real comments on your hotel.
Would we go back? hotel maybe, resort definitely. See you there next March, look for the guy with the Belfast Giants hat and do say hello and a coffee.

Went for New Year. So good went back the following year. Had a fun time, lots of things organised thing to do, never laughed so much in my life as we met some fantastic people, mainly uk market traders who were great people. The hotel staff were lovely, friendly, helpful. The rooms were nice and clean, food good and the drinks were average priced. Would go back again.

Well, we booked 4 nights at the Tenerife Playa and then read the reviews...gulp.
What can I say? Pleasantly surprised. This hotel is efficient, and very well run by true professional "career " hospitality staff.
Warm and welcoming, rooms spotless, location excellent (no parking though) and the food piping hot. The pool guy goes out of his way to accommodate you and, guess what?? He really does chuck the towels off the reserved sun beds and gives them to you. Brilliant. No getting up at 5am to get a spot by the pool. Happy hour 5 til 6 (great), and the pool snack bar served the hottest pizza ever. Puerto is just lovely and a great place to escape to. We explored the north of the island extensively, parked at the harbour which is a pleasant 15 minute stroll from the hotel and is free!! and take the oppotunity to grab a lovely coffee on the way to the car and a good glass of wine on the way back. Perfect. Would not hesitate to return.
Tip... speak to the staff, say hello, pass the time of day, say please and thank you and you will make friends for life. They seem to remember all the repeaters, and that's lovely to watch.
