We'd read some mixed reviews of this hotel but decided to stay here anyway, as it was the largest room we could get for the lowest amount of money for a recent trip and we were only staying 2 nights. I booked a junior suite for myself, my husband, and my 3 year old daughter. It was basically one large room, but it was, in fact, quiet large and had a separate sitting area which we converted to a sleeping area for my daughter. We also had a huge bathroom that was very nice. The room was a bit dated, but otherwise comfortable (my husband thought the bed was hard - I like firm beds though). The breakfast was very nice and everyone was helpful. We were there over Easter weekend and there were closings of restaurants, etc. but the front desk helped us find some nice places to eat both near the hotel and in the city center. The location for the hotel was fantastic - right above a metro stop and an easy ride to the city center. Also we had a rental car and it was easy to find the hotel from the highway. Parking was expensive - 20 or 22 euros/night but no different from anywhere else we parked the car in Italy. I'm sure there are more glamorous properties in more fashionable parts of Milan, but we had a nice stay and I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Booked a flight from Liverpool to Milan, two people return for £0.04 with no taxes! It then turned out my daughter was keen to accompany us (21yr old). Booked flight next day for £33 which was still cheap. Decided we needed a room that slept 3 for about £100 a night. We have been to Rome with Best Western and found the rooms OK and if you book on their international site and pay upfront you get a good rate. Read lots of poor write-ups of Milan Hotels and Hotel Major only had one review which rated it as 2 star but they did offer a mini suite with King Size bed, a single ,Jacuzzi bath and sound proofed rooms for just less than £100 a night so we booked. I told my wife not to expect too good a hotel this time but I have this to say- Reception - marble floors modern and very clean. Bedroom- 8th floor spacious, balcony, wind down blinds in between double glazing,padded fabric walls, plasma tv, jacuzzi bath bidet shower etc- all spotlessly clean.Tea and coffee, biscuits in room. Breakfast room in basement, very modern clean, cold buffet not up to scandinavian standards but very nice all the same. We have never used public transport abroad but as we were ripped off by the taxi from the bus station the night before we decided to give it a try. Metro is right outside the Hotel, two day unlimited travel ticket was Euro 5.50 and transport was very efficient and saved lots of walking in the heat. My standards are high and I've travelled fairly widely including the fantastic 6* Dubai Hotels and have to say you have to judge a Hotel by the Country it is in. This was a 4 * by Italian standards - no retaurant or pool but very modern, clean, comfortable and only minutes from the centre by tube. Another positive thing is that we left a mobile phone in the room and when we contacted the Hotel on our return, they had found it and once we sent a text to it to prove it was ours they were prepared to send it to us. We have left things hanging on the back of bathroom doors in London only to be told there was nothing there..... Taxi - We fell for the touts at the bus station mainly because it was late at night and we couldn't see any obvious Taxi's - charged euro 60 for a euro 18 trip. The taxis all line up at the front of the station which is a fair walk from the drop off point. Visited the Absolute Ice Bar, Duomo -go on the roof La Scala and the canal area and the castle. More like a 2 star hotel. Rooms are old, small and bathrooms are smelly. We were on the first floor so whenever anyone above flushed a toilet we heard in the bathroom. Breakfast buffet was in the basement with very few choices but they will make cappuchino. The hotel staff proficiency in English is limited. CNN is the only English speaking channel. Computer in the lobby and the hotel charged 9 euros an hour. So it you need to send a short email you have to pay for entire hour We go to Milan on business, but I would not recommend it a tourist destination. It expensive, rough, dirty and not very friendly. However, Milan has excellent train system to the Northern Lakes and I highly recommend them. There are lots of beautiful villas and towns all over the lakes. Catch train early in the morning and an hour or two later you are on the lake. Take a tour around lake Como or Lake Maggiore. You can hop on and off the boats but be mindful of the schedule (especially on Lake Maggiore routes). If you can go up to Bellagio
