Stayed at Crown Reef about five years ago and loved it. I don't know what has happened to this place. Check in was a pain in the butt. The wrist band thing is crazy. You have to wear a wrist band to use the pools. You have to sign a paper at check in that if you lose the band it will not be replaced. The guards that check for the bands pick and choose who has to get out of the pool if you don't have one on. My kids were sent to get new bands but out of 30 people in the pool that did not have on bands on my kids were the only ones that the guard said anything to. I did complain to management but nothing was done. If they had got everyone out that did not have a band there would not have been many people left in the pools.
They do not inforce the rules. The sign at the pool said no glass bottles. People were drinking beer out of glass bottles in plain sight and nothing was said to them. Later a small child split her heel wide open on glass at the pool.
Room .... When we first got there our room was nasty. It was suppose to be newly remodeled (so they told us at check in. Yeah right! Wall paper falling off the wall and a big hole tore in the side of the couch. Door knob on the bathroom door falling off. There was something sprayed all over the wall in the kitchen area, the smoke detector was falling off the wall, and we found someones dirty socks behind the pillows on one of our beds, and one of our tv's didn't work. I will say housekeeping did come and clean up the mess fast. We never had enough towels without asking for them and on one day the guy in housekeeping told me he didn't know if he would be able to give me more. (i was mad!). We had to ask to get our sheets changed. Housekeeping took our remote to our tv.
Pools were nasty! Never saw them clean them the whole five days i was there. Sand all in the bottom, green stuff growing around the tops of the pools, tiles missing in the pools and one pool look like they tried to repair the tiles but they must have hired 1st graders to do it. BAD JOB ON REPAIRES. We even found a dead fish in one pool.
I will never stay there again! It was crap for the price we paid.

July 18, 2008 - Bed Bug scare was a HOAX. Before we left we spoke to management. Had no reports what so ever. We stayed there last year! It was fine. We were very pleased. When we arrived we needed extra pillows. They came instantly. Our room was on the 11th floor great. The pool was constantly being cleaned. It was crowded but it was okay. I would stay there again!

We stayed at the Tropical Seas next door but spent time over here as they hotels are related. So no comments on the rooms as I didn't see any.
Pros-
- The lazy river was fun with plenty of tubes.
- The outdoor 'tiki' bar had yummy drinks and a friendly bartender.
- The pool was huge and never seemed too crowded.
- The Treasure Chest express caf? has a full breakfast for $2.50!!! Seriously. For $2.50 you get scrambled eggs, two pieces of toast, home fries, grits (or you can sub more home fries), coffee and either two pieces of bacon or two pieces of sausage. AND it was good!
Cons-
- SLOW elevators.
I dont reccommend this place to anyone.

The building was beautiful at night lit up in a purple color. The room was average, the air condition didn't work very well. The pools were great. However; the wristband requirement was annoying. If you had family visit they could not even visit you at the pool. Also, you were only allowed one parking pass. The free breakfast was nice. There was a nice gift shop there as well. Lots of gazebo type seating areas. When I complained about the air they offered to move us to another room. The view was great! Based on the three night special at $99 per night, I would say it was a great value. If I had paid the full $180 every night, it would not have been such a great deal.
