Ruined Wedding Day

This hotel does not deserve to be in business. Our party had booked over 10 rooms for a Wedding Party and on arrival the Bride and Groom were told that they did not have the Honeymoon suite and that 2 of the rooms booked were not available ( I was one of those guests). NOT what you need at midnight on your wedding night! They initially said that 4 rooms weren't available but I managed to sort this out. The Hotel were not at all apologetic and all guests refused to pay for the accommodation as such. They completely ruined the best Wedding Day and the Bride and Groom will never forget this. We had all booked 6 months in advance (at least) so there is no excuse. I arrived at 9am to leave my bags and was not told that I did not have a room. Now having read the other reviews on this site I wish none of us had booked here in the first place. If you want to guarantee a room for the night, DO NOT STAY HERE!

I have just read the review "Worst Hotel" and the reply thereto.
My family had stayed at the Royal Oak before, round about 1997, and had a pleasant stay. Thereafter, we'd recommended it to friends who wanted to stay in Sevenoaks. Some of them had complained about the hotel, but we just thought that they were being too fussy, or expecting 5 star standards from a 3 star hotel.
In June 2007, we stayed there again for 2 nights in a room in the building behind the main hotel. We paid over a hundred and twenty pounds per night. It was extremely small, we had to carry our own suitcases up the stairs, and the springs in the roll-away may as well not have been there. Service in the restaurant was not very good, and we had to really search for someone to serve us coffee. Worst of all, my son who slept in the bed near the window was completely covered by flea bites and had a really miserable time for days after that stay.

Worst Hotel Ever!

I stay in hotels with business on a weekly basis and this is without doubt my worst hotel ex[erience. The former stable block behind the hotel where my room/cell was located, was dirty and dusty but it had a bed and I was shattered. 2 hours later I woke scratching to find the bed sheets soaked in blood! There were hundreds of bed bugs munching away at me. I (to put it mildly freaked out) and went to reception to book out. The receptionist told me she would have to call the night manager or charge my card for the full cost of the room. This was after the night porter had described the scene that greeted him in my room as "disgusting, they let dogs stay in the rooms with their owners you know"! My colleague who was in another room and I plus several other guests who overheard my none too impressed rantings at reception, booked out there and then. With me shouting, "try and bill me for that and I'll happily see you in court" as I left. We spent the next 2 hours trying to track down a hotel and finally booked into somewhere fit for humans at 2am. After an hour spent scrubbing myself raw in a boiling shower, I spent the rest of a fitful night trying to get some sleep, I'm still not over it and spend ages checking every hotel room I check into! The Royal Oak Hotel Sevenoaks, I wouldn't kennel my dog there, although apparently many do!!!

I rang the hotel last Friday morning (March 14th) on the off chance that the hotel had availability as my wife and I wanted to come to Sevenoaks to visit friends who have a new baby and as they didn't have room for us thought we would stay in a hotel for the weekend - I was greeted on the phone by an extremely bubbley lady (which to me is always a great first sign for a good hotel) - she was really helpful and told me all the rooms that they had available along with prices and also about the area as we have never visited Sevenoaks before - we splashed out and booked an Executive Double room. When we arrived we were greeted at reception by a very nice Scottish lady who we found out to be the General Manager. We went to our room (111) which we loved as it had a great private balcony and really comfortable half tester bed. That evening our friends decided to come to the hotel for a drink and we thought we would try the restaurant for dinner - the hotel had a wedding going on so we were given a really lovely table to ourselves in the conservatory just off the bar - the food was excellent as was the service, in fact so good that we invited other friends to join us at the hotel on the Sunday for lunch. We really loved our stay in Sevenoaks at The Royal Oak and will most certainly be back again soon - Highly recommended.

Stayed for 1 night for work, glad it was only 1 night as I would have checked out if it had been for longer. Room was basic which I don't mind, but dusty and bathroom not very clean. A circus appeared to be going on when i checked in with a poor girl struggling on reception and gaggle of women shouting and laughing in the office behind, apparantly oblivious to people trying to check in. There was no one obviously in charge at any time during my stay, just young staff struggling along.
