My entire experience from booking, to reception, the stay, and check out was pleasing. The facility is very clean. Parking lot well lit and close by. Room was clean, quiet and furnishings appeared to be recently redone. Continental breakfast is probably average. Staff was fiendly and courteous. I have added this motel to my list of desired places to stay when on the road. Close by Grandma Sharon's Restaurant had excellent service and good food at a very good price.
A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT A REASONABLE PRICE.

Stayed at the Marquis for one night in May, 2007. It was one of the few hotels I could find in Williston with wireless internet. The hotel is very clean and located on main routes. The staff were friendly. My room was also clean and had the basics. I had a good wireless connection during my stay which was provided free. The rooms are nothing fancy but if you're looking for the basics and an affordable price, this place will do the job.

The room itself was okay, but the customer service was non-existent.
When we checked in, in small print on the bill it was stated that there was an automatic surcharge to use the in-room safe, which could be refunded upon request. I informed the desk clerk that we would not need the safe and wanted the surcharge taken off. He said no problem, just tell them when we checked out (more on that later).
The room was fine, except the toilet seat was scraped and looked grubby. We tried the telephone to place a wake up call request, but kept getting a busy signal. So when we left the hotel for dinner, we stopped by the front desk and spoke with the clerk about the wake up call. She appeared to write it down.
When we returned from dinner, we discovered our room's door was not latched--we were able to just push it open. We had shut the door completely, but it just wouldn't latch (unless you slammed it shut, which we discovered after fidgeting with it). [We do not think anyone had gotten into the room, and we know better--we should have checked it before we left.]
The next morning, we did not receive a wake up call, and so we overslept. When we checked out, I mentioned that we did not receive the call, and the clerk mumbled something about that it should have been programmed into our phone. She was not apologetic, but rather seemed to think I didn't place the request. I also mentioned that our door didn't lock. She flatly said it must have been the humidity and that they had received a complaint about it before (so why wasn't anything done about it??). Again, no apologies. Before she printed off my receipt, I asked to have the safe surcharge taken off, because we didn't use it. She said okay and hands me the bill. I look at it, and not only had she NOT taken it off, she had added another surcharge. I repeated myself, saying that I wanted the charge off, and she loudly stated she took it off. I showed her the two spots where it was still on the bill. She took that bill back, and without so much as a sheepish grin, gave me a new bill that was (finally) correct.
Doesn't anyone care about customer service anymore?

I had booked my room well in advance as I know that hotels in Williston tend to sell out. I reserved a non-smoking room. Not only did I not get a non-smoking room, the attitude of the front desk clerk was very unapologetic as I assume that she knew that there were no more available rooms left in town.
This room was so smokey (even after I continously sprayed the room with air freshener) that the smell lingered on my clothes and in my suitcase for days after only one night.
